Daniel 11:14
‘And in Those Times [ when Antiochus III determined to avenge his defeat at Raphia in The Fifth Syrian War] there shall many stand up against The King of The South. Also, The Robbers of Thy People shall exalt themselves to establish The Vision; But They shall fall.’ Co-Co, The Chimpanzee Schoolmaster, is not certain that the several interpretations of this verse are logical. He begs leave to further ponder the Scripture and apologizes for the delay. (He refuses to write his views unless he believes that they are in line with The Scriptures.) He wonders: Who are ‘The Many Who Stand Up Against The King of The South’? Whether ‘The Robbers of Thy People’ are apostate Jews, as some of the commentaries state, or are they those who would rob the province of Judaea, (at this time under Ptolemaic control before Antiochus’s victory at Panion described in Verses 15 & 16)? What ‘Vision‘ is being established? Is the Aetolian general, Scopas, who fought against Antiochus III’s initial taking of Coele-Syria for the Ptolemaic dynasty, being noted in this verse? Co-Co would rather ‘refrain his lips’ rather than write multitude of words that he is not assured are in accordance with The Word of GOD. Next Week: Daniel 11:14
