Pastor Wayne Writes:
“Let the Church be the Church.”
June 13, 2026
In view of the theologically conservative resolutions that were passed this week at the Southern Baptist Convention, and the election of a true theologically conservative President, while there is much work to be done, I believe we have reached the end of the “cool-woke-church” era, for the movement failed to accomplish what the leaders dreamed it would.
Christianity is declining in the U.S., while Islam is now growing most rapidly. In 1960, over 90% of American adults identified as Christian; today, about 60% do. Pastors are leaving the ministry in large numbers, and thousands of churches are closing each year. Therefore, I hope this sermon will raise your concern.
Beloved, the bottom line is this. The time has come for churches to stop trying to market Jesus in ways they think make Him attractive to the lost, and start proclaiming Jesus as the Savior and Lord that He is; the only way, the only truth, and the only life, and the only hope of our eternal salvation.
The title of this Sunday’s sermon is: “Let the Church be the Church.”

News Stories that Connect with Biblical Prophecy
By Wayne J. Edwards, June 13, 2026
My Fellow Watchmen,
Back in the day, I was a “Rush-nic,” – I timed my daily travels to listen to the Rush Limbaugh show. Even when the political landscape looked as bad as we thought it could ever be, Rush would say, “Don’t give up!” And, in a few weeks, sure enough, something would happen that would give us fellow conservatives a fresh breath of hope that justice would prevail.
I felt that way last week after hearing the results of the 2026 Southern Baptist Convention. Even though I could not be there, I waited with bated breath to hear the outcome of the resolution regarding male-only pastors/elders/deacons, etc. When I heard that the vote was three-to-one in favor, for the first time in 30 years, I sensed that a true, theological conservative could be elected as the President of the SBC. And he was, by almost 60% of the vote.
Beloved, this is the second time the Lord has pulled the SBC back from the brink of total apostasy.
Even if you aren’t a part of the SBC, this should also give you hope for the future. The “cool-woke” church days are over! Oh, the people will still gather in their electronically enhanced buildings and “play,” as the children of Israel did at the base of Mt. Sinai. Still, the impetus behind the whole contemporary Christian movement is no more, and I am so thankful to see it.
My question now is this: Will today’s pastors recognize the opportunity God has given to us and do what needs to be done to bring about real revival, or will they dress up their theological liberalism in conservative words? The Gen-Z crowd is waiting and wanting to see what the churches are going to do.
