OBJECTIVE: DON’T DIE

OBJECTIVE: DON’T DIE

July 12, 2026

Many thanks to my reader Nick Soden for sending in this article. This monkey is ever amazed at the folly of human beings. The Bible makes it quite clear that “It is appointed unto men once to die” But here is someone who is spending a fortune on trying to live forever and prove his maker wrong.

Gibber! Gibber!

1211. Don’t Die with Bryan Johnson | Dave AspreyWe are living in remarkable days. Events are unfolding across the world at a pace that can leave anyone feeling unsettled, and it seems like every week brings a new headline that makes people ask what it all means. I want to help you make sense of it. So I’ll be writing regularly to walk through the things happening in our world and hold them up to the light of Scripture. My goal is simple. It’s to help you see current events the way God sees them, to understand our times through the lens of Bible prophecy, and to face whatever comes not with fear but with the confidence that our God is on the throne and His Word is coming to pass right in front of us. I hope these articles strengthen your faith and help you keep your eyes fixed where they belong. Today on Tipping Point, I talked about the world of alternative medical therapies. A lot of what is out there is good, and I thank God for wisdom that helps us care for the bodies He gave us. But some of it pushes right to the edge of what God would want for His people, and a few things step over that line entirely. This article is about one of them. God bless you, Jimmy

There’s a man in the news named Bryan Johnson. He made a fortune in technology, over three hundred million dollars, and he’s decided to spend it on a single project: never dying.

He follows a regimen that costs around two million dollars a year. He tracks every marker in his blood. At one point he was injecting himself with plasma from his teenage son to try to turn back the clock. He swallowed dozens of supplements a day. He’s built an entire brand around the slogan “Don’t Die.” And this week Bryan Johnson announced that he’s been diagnosed with an incurable autoimmune disease. In his own words, his stomach is eating itself. His response was telling. He said that in the age of artificial intelligence and custom-built DNA, no condition should be presumed incurable. In other words, the machine that broke down will be fixed by a better machine. He’ll solve it. He believes he will always solve it.I want to be clear before I go any further. I’m not writing this to mock a man who’s sick. He’s a human being made in the image of God, and I’d gladly pray for his healing. What I want to talk to you about isn’t Bryan Johnson the person. It’s the promise he represents, because that promise is one of the oldest lies in the world, and it’s being sold to a whole generation with a straight face. The Oldest Sales Pitch There Is When Satan came to Adam and Eve in the Garden, he didn’t lead with something ugly. He led with a promise. He told them that if they’d step out from under God’s command, their eyes would be opened and they’d be like God. That was the bait. You won’t need to depend on Him. You won’t have to trust Him with the things you can’t control. You’ll run your own life, and you’ll be your own god. Pride was Satan’s original sin. Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 both describe how he lifted up his heart and said, in effect, I will. I will set my throne above God. I will be like the Most High. He was a covering cherub in the very presence of God, and he traded it all for the fantasy of being God himself. Then he walked into Eden and offered the same trade to us. Mankind has been taking that bait ever since. Look closely at the promise of endless life through technology and you’ll see the very same offer. You won’t need God. You won’t have to trust Him with your final breath. Death won’t be an appointment you keep. It’ll be a problem you engineer your way around. Your eyes will be opened, and you’ll be like God, holding the one power the Bible says belongs to Him alone. Only He has authority over life and death. The Appointment No One Can Reschedule The Bible doesn’t treat death as a design flaw waiting for the right engineer. It treats it as an appointment. God’s Word says it plainly:“ And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

I want you to notice the word appointed. An appointment is set by someone with the authority to set it. You don’t schedule this one, and you can’t cancel it. No amount of money, no stack of supplements, and no artificial intelligence reschedules an appointment that God Himself has placed on the calendar. Death came into the world through sin, and until Jesus returns, every one of us has this appointment. That isn’t fear-mongering. That’s honesty. And honesty is the beginning of hope. Here’s the part the tech visionaries miss entirely. The problem with the human body isn’t fundamentally mechanical. It’s spiritual. We don’t age and die because the engineers simply haven’t gotten around to fixing it. We age and die because of sin, the curse that entered the world in the Garden of Eden. You can’t debug a curse. You can’t upload your way out from under the judgment of a holy God. The disease that eats at Bryan Johnson’s stomach is a small picture of the corruption that sin brought to all of creation, and no lab on earth has a cure for that. Two Words That Change EverythingLet me draw a distinction that matters here, because the men chasing this dream are chasing the wrong thing even on their own terms. There’s a difference between immortal and eternal. Immortal simply means you never die. Suppose one of these longevity companies actually pulled it off. Suppose they could keep a body running for five hundred years. All they’d have accomplished is to lock a person inside a fallen body, in a fallen world, under the curse, with no exit. That isn’t a blessing. That’s a sentence. Eternal is something else entirely. Eternal isn’t this life stretched out forever. It’s a new kind of life altogether. When Jesus rose from the grave, He didn’t come back to keep living as usual. His body was raised imperishable, glorious, and eternal, and the Bible promises that when He returns, everyone who belongs to Him will be changed to be like Him in an instant. That’s the actual answer to death, and it isn’t for sale. It’s a gift, and it was purchased on a cross two thousand years ago. “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”1 Corinthians 15:51–52

Do you see the contrast? The biohacker offers you more of the same body you already have, if you can afford it. Jesus offers you a body that’ll never age, never break down, and never die, and He offers it to the poor man as freely as to the billionaire. One is a fool’s bargain. The other is the blessed hope. Why This Dream Serves the Coming System Now I want to take one more step, because this isn’t only a personal question. It’s a prophetic one. The dream of conquering death by technology isn’t a harmless eccentricity of a few wealthy men. It’s helping to build the mindset that the Antichrist system will one day require. Think about what that system will demand. The Bible tells us that in the days of the Antichrist, no one will be able to buy or sell without his mark :“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. ”Revelation 13:16–17For most of history readers could only wonder how one man could possibly monitor and control the buying and selling of every person on earth. We don’t have to wonder anymore. The infrastructure is being assembled in front of us: biometric identification, injectable chips, facial recognition, cashless payment, artificial intelligence that watches every transaction. None of that is evil in itself. But it’s exactly the toolkit a future tyrant will need, and the world is being trained to welcome it. Here’s where the longevity dream does its quiet work. The Antichrist will present himself as a savior. He’ll offer solutions to the problems that frighten people most, and there’s no fear more basic than the fear of death. A world that’s been taught to believe technology can rescue the body, extend life, and defeat disease is a world already conditioned to trust the man who promises to deliver exactly that. When someone finally stands up and says he can give you health, security, and life itself, if you’ll simply take his mark and worship his image, he won’t be introducing a strange new idea. He’ll be cashing in on a hope this generation has already been trained to feel. And here’s the reason the world will believe him. The Antichrist won’t merely promise to defeat death. He will actually die and rise again. The Bible tells us he’ll suffer a wound that genuinely kills him, and then he will live again, a satanic imitation of the death and resurrection of Jesus, and the whole world will marvel and follow him because of it. “And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. ”Revelation 13:3 Think about how perfectly that fits the moment we’re living in. A generation that’s already been trained to believe death is only a problem for the right genius to solve will finally meet a man who has actually done it in his own body. He’ll stand there alive after the world watched him die, and the same craving that spends millions chasing a few more years will bow down and call him god. His resurrection will be real, but it will be a counterfeit in the deepest sense, because it mimics the one true resurrection in order to steal the worship that belongs to Christ alone. The greatest lie in human history will wear the face of the greatest miracle in human history. That’s why the longevity dream isn’t a side issue. It’s a rehearsal. That’s the spirit of Antichrist at work long before the Antichrist himself appears. It’s the ancient offer dressed in new clothes: You can be like God, and you will not surely die. Whenever you see the fear of death being used to gather power, to centralize control, and to move people to trust a system instead of the Savior, you’re watching that spirit lay its groundwork. Where the Believer Stands So how should a Christian think about all of this? Not with panic, and not with contempt for medicine or science. God gives doctors and researchers real gifts, and there’s nothing wrong with caring for the body He gave you. The line isn’t between using technology and refusing it. The line is between stewarding your life and trying to save yourself with it. The Babylon spirit has always been humanity coming together to build a tower into the heavens so we can be our own god and replace the real one. The longevity movement is that same tower with a new blueprint. It’s men pooling their genius and their fortunes to climb up out of death by their own effort, so that they’ll never have to bow, never have to trust, and never have to say the words that every one of us must one day say: God, I can’t save myself, and I need You to do it. Bryan Johnson’s own body just preached him a sermon. With all his money and all his monitoring, his stomach turned on itself, and there’s no chip and no algorithm that can undo it. That isn’t cruelty. It’s mercy, if he’ll hear it. Every one of us gets some version of that message eventually, a moment where our strength runs out and we’re reminded that we’re not God and we were never meant to be. Blessed is the person who listens. You don’t have to spend two million dollars a year to escape death. You can’t buy your way out of it at any price. But there’s One who already paid the price, who walked out of His own tomb, and who holds in His hand the keys of death itself. He doesn’t offer you a longer stay in a dying body. He offers you resurrection. So while the world looks down at its screens and its scans, trying to engineer a way around the grave, we do what Jesus told us to do when everything around us is shaking. “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Luke 21:28Look up. Not down at the machine that promises to save you, but up at the Savior who already has. That’s the blessed hope, and no laboratory on earth can improve on it.
