WERE YOU THERE?

WERE YOU THERE?

December 17, 2019

I am still being astonished by Greg Laurie’s biography of Johnny Cash. The story behind this song explains the uniquely tortured quality of Cash’s voice as he and the Carter family perform this very moving piece.

May I suggest you consider buying a copy of this book for Christmas? It is a wonderful story of Redemption through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including illuminating Biblical insights, The book is available in Australia here: https://store.vision.org.au/

Thanks Chugley. I would never have thought Chimps would be into Country and Western music. I would have guessed Hip Hop was more for Chimps. Great song though, reflecting on God’s love and forgiveness offered through Jesus; ““He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.””(1 Peter 2:24 NIV) If only we would realise that we ‘were there’ and accept God’s love, forgiveness and life!

Yes Greg, I am constantly surprised at myself. Greg Laurie really explains “Redemption” very well in his biography of Johnny. He graphically describes how Johnny was in extreme need as he battled amphetamine addiction. June Carter and her family helped him through the crisis, teaching him how to lean on God’s promises. Thanks, Greg, for caring about my Blog with all you have to do, it is much appreciated! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley

Love Johnny Cash. Thanks for sharing this special song, and something of his journey to faith in Christ.
