TRUTH IN A POST-MODERN WORLD
After all, I am just a half-evolved Chimp, wondering if I will ever receive the full “download” of human DNA. I seem to be alone as a “transitional” kind of half-developed creature. Very puzzling for an earnest student of evolution to comprehend! I am finding my studies entirely underpinned by the teachings found in your Bible, apparently the only 100% certified, reliable source of eternal truth. Further research for me includes various Creation Science publications, which I find essential reading in order to find accurately researched explanations for the origins of our universe – and also Chimps and Mankind. I also enjoy many other writings, far too numerous to list here.
Recently I have added another dimension to my research, best represented, I believe, by Ravi Zacharias, a Christian philosopher of Anglo-Indian descent. Let me introduce you to some of his thinking from his book Jesus Among Other Gods:
“We are living in a time when you can believe anything, as long as you do not claim it to be true. In the name of “tolerance”, our post-modern culture embraces everything from Eastern Mysticism to New Age spirituality.”
But, as Ravi Zacharias points out, such unquestioning acceptance of all things spiritual is absurd. “All religions, plainly and simply, cannot be true.”
I thoroughly recommend this book, which is expanding my evolving monkey mind enormously, as I pursue more human philosophical understanding. Available from Koorong Australia as a book or audio CD www.koorong.com
