Dear HBC Family and Friends,
The writer of Proverbs said: “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Man’s greatest sin is his refusal to honor God as God, which is the sin of pride. It was the sin of pride that caused the angel Lucifer to be cast out of heaven.
· When we set ourselves up as our own God and become our own judge of right and wrong, good and bad, godly and evil, we become just like Lucifer.
· When we dethrone God and enthrone ourselves, arranging our lives around our wants, needs, goals, ideas, desires, and dreams, we become just like Lucifer.
· When we cease to measure our lives by the standards of God’s Word and see nothing wrong in anything we decide to do if it helps us achieve self-satisfaction and pride, we become just like Lucifer.

WATCHMEN’S REPORT

My Fellow Watchmen,
The three greatest threats facing America today are, in this order:
· The Apathy of the Church: With church attendance dropping rapidly, regardless of the “type” of church, the “stand” against evil is weakening. At the same time, even many of those who have a solid faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are ignoring moral and social problems because they do not want to get involved. When the Church is spiritually weak, and, according to those who study such things in depth, the churches in the West are at their weakest point in history, evil rises.
· The Rise of Islam: Christianity and Islam are fundamentally incompatible in their core theological beliefs and expressed behaviors. Christianity views Jesus as the divine Son of God who died on the cross and rose from the dead for human sins. Islam views Jesus as a great human prophet, not as the Son of God, and teaches that he was not crucified. Christianity teaches that eternal life is a gift received through faith in Jesus’ finished work. Islam teaches that people earn God’s favor through faith, obedience, prayer, and good works. Christianity is based upon God’s love, mercy, and grace. Islam demands strict obedience to their ways, or you may lose your life.
· The Threat of Democratic Socialism: As a form of government, socialism has never been successful. We already have too many people relying on the government for their welfare. Some prophecy watchers believe that if those who are promoting Democratic Socialism get elected in November, this could be the “set up” for the arrival of the Antichrist and the New World Order.
