The midterms’ results look ugly, but don’t lose heart.

The midterms’ results look ugly, but don’t lose heart.

November 5, 2026

I feel most privileged to present Joan Swirsky’s assessment of the mid term elections in America. My readers are most fortunate to have two inside articles to consider. As goes America, so later goes Australia. I wonder whether Pauline Hanson can turn the tide down here? I know the result for which I shall be hoping and praying as I munch a banana in my zoo.

Gibber! Gibber!

Chugley

Whether by a persuasive public relations campaign or suspect voting machines or a true attraction to socialism and communism and jihadism, the American people have spoken and have proven, not for the first time, that emotions are more powerful than the intellect.

What have the liberals, leftists, progressives among us demonstrated today — the midterm voting day in the USA — that they want?

  • They want Big Government to take care of them.
  • They want to embrace the noble and ongoing concept of fanatical antisemitism.
  • They want to re-open our borders to all those drug-traffickers and sex-traffickers and jihadists and career criminals whom Democrats have a soft spot for.
  • They want to try to punish those bad ol’ rich guys who run the world — but never the mega-rich globalists who fund their anti-American, anti-freedom campaigns.
  • They want to encourage the coups d’état in Poland and around the world to effectively threaten them into complying with their one-world agenda…or else!

So goes the pendulum of history, occasionally wonderful for the voting populace but, in this instance, a study in colossal stupidity.

Obsession

Since the beginning of time, emotion has always been stronger than intellect.

Intellect is exciting, provocative, illuminating, and important.  But emotion — that immense seat of feelings that dwells in the limbic system, the amygdala part of our brains, often overrules our better judgment.

This is largely because it makes us “feel” good, and, when one gets older, like a “good person.”  Aren’t I virtuous?  On the side of good?  Against all those mean adults who want to invoke the rule of law and all those other mean things?

And who represents all those pro–law and order, closed-borders, pro-American values more consistently and powerfully than Donald Trump — all Make America Great Again, all pro-Israel, all the things that Democrats hate and detest?

That is exactly what this midterm vote was all about: rejecting a love of America.

From what I’ve read, President Trump accepts this vote.  But guess what!  He is still President and still capable of proposing — and hopefully enacting — policies that are good and great for our country.

If not, all of us will have to endure the nightmare and deeply anti-American policies we experienced under Jimmy Carter and every Democrat president since that loather of Israel and Jews managed to depose the Shah of Iran and usher in the vicious regime of the Ayatollah Khomeini, which exists to this day in Iran.

Pyrrhic Victory

A Pyrrhic victory is generally defined as a success that brings such significant harm to the victor that it differs little from defeat.

This may happen when all those liberal voters wake up to the danger they’ve inflicted on themselves vis-à-vis the jihadists whose charters call for the elimination of all Jews and Christians.

But “whatever,” they will say, as they drape their heads and shoulders with keffiyehs and compliment themselves on their embrace of diversity.

Yes, they will follow through on their promise to impeach President Trump, the leader who has lived rent-free in their obsessed minds for the past over-ten years.  And they will raise taxes, as all liberals do.  And they will inflict Americans with more rules and regulations, as is their wont.

But life will go on.  And in two more years, as Americans get yet another taste of liberal/leftist/progressive, and let’s not forget about communist so-called leadership, I predict a thundering success for the MAGA icon, the current secretary of State, Marco Rubio, as president of the United States!
