Dear HBC Family and Friends,
The greatest challenge facing the evangelical community today is whether Jesus Christ remains the Lord of His Church or whether it has been turned over to church-growth marketers. According to those who study the effectiveness of the Church in the world today, the message of the gospel is being stifled by four major issues:
· Pastoral scandals – moral, financial, and the abuse of power.
· Biblical Illiteracy– a willful ignorance of the essential doctrines of the Christian faith.
· Cultural compromise – adapting the gospel message to fit with the secular culture.
· Lack of visible love – which is the main evidence of our relationship with Him.
Beloved, practical atheism is a much greater threat to the Christian faith than outright atheism. Practical atheism is to say we believe in God, but to live as though God does not exist, or that He makes no difference in our lives. This attitude of “indifference” nullifies the gospel’s transforming power. Hence our need for genuine revival, and our purpose for the exposition of the Book of Amos.
God called Amos to warn the Israelites to either return to Him in genuine repentance or prepare to receive His judgment. Beloved, this same call is for God’s people today. The title of this sermon is, “Return to Me: The Lord God Has Spoken.” Read Amos 3:1-15

THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT

My Fellow Watchmen,
With the stroke of her pen, Maura Healey, Democrat Governor of Massachusetts, legalized the intentional murder of fully formed babies up to the moment of their birth. This means those human beings, whose “innermost parts” were created by the Divine Creator Himself, and whose bodies were uniquely “framed” according to His design for that child, will be ripped apart and vacuumed from their mother’s womb. No apologies for the graphic language!
It’s almost too horrifying to comprehend the pain these babies will go through as their lives are snuffed out. Not only are their lives destroyed, but so are the successive generations that would have come through them. Think about this! Every time a baby is executed, that seed line is also eliminated. Abortion wipes out generations of people who could have changed the world. Think of that in terms of the 60 million babies who have been slaughtered in their mother’s womb, and hopefully, if selfishness is not your besetting sin, you can see the enormous loss of life.
Beloved, we are now in the darkest depths of moral depravity. When women rejoice over the legalization of the murder of the unborn, that is unbridled evil. As the Apostle Paul said in Romans 1, God has turned them over to a “reprobate mind” – their conscience has been so seared they are no longer able to recognize truth. Sadly, that is the diagnosis of our day!
