In 325 A.D., the Council of Nicaea separated the celebration of the Christian resurrection from Passover, anchoring it to the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. This linked it to the pagan fertility festival of “Easter,” blending biblical truth with pagan traditions. The main motivation was to create a unified Christian practice independent of Jewish influence. Emperor Constantine advocated for this separation, stating, “Christianity would have nothing in common with the Jews.”
However, whether Constantine was a “true” Christian is debated, as he likely merged personal belief with political pragmatism. While he stopped the persecution of Christians, built physical churches, and favored Christianity, seeing it as a force for unity and peace within the empire, Constantine retained his commitment to pagan elements, such as the worship of Sol Invictus (the Unconquered Sun).
Beloved, Christianity was born as a Jewish messianic movement, centered on the life, death, and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, a Jewish Rabbi. With the exception of Luke, the original apostles were Jewish and adhered to Jewish traditions, culture, law, and the seven Jewish feasts.
By moving the date away from the 14th of Nisan (Passover), the church broke from the biblical timeline. This decision weakened the theological connection to Jesus as the fulfillment of the Passover Lamb and diminished the Lord’s physical resurrection as the fulfillment of the Feast of Firstfruits.

News Stories that Connect with Biblical Prophecy

My Fellow Watchmen,
In Genesis 1:27, the Bible says God created mankind in His own image – male and female, to reflect His likeness. This concept, known as imago dei, signifies that humans resemble God mentally, morally, and socially, rather than physically, for God is Spirit. However, the fact that the human body was created by God demands that we reverence and respect that which God has created, and that from conception to natural death.
In Psalm 139:12-14, the Bible says, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” That one verse alone should remind the abortionist and the one who assists others to take their own lives that God alone is the Author of life. Once that person receives Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, their bodies become “temples” of the Holy Spirit and must be treated with the respect and reverence God intended for them.
· True Christians believe that human life begins at conception. Therefore, abortion is the intentional destruction, often limb by limb, of a human life and violates the sixth commandment, which says, “Thou shalt not murder.”
· Assisted suicide, no matter what words of compassion are attached to it, is just another way of playing God with the lives of those who are facing their final days of life. The Bible says we are “stewards” of our bodies – not the owners. God alone is the Creator and the owner – we do not have the right to end our own lives, or to assist others in their decision.
However, the Bible teaches that we should not defile, abuse, or neglect them.
· Avoid sexual immorality – 1 Corinthians 6:18 – sexual sin is a sin against one’s own body.
· Self-mutilation – Leviticus 19:28 – this law forbids cutting the body or getting tattoos.
· Drunkenness – Ephesians 5:18 – consuming alcohol to the point of drunkenness or using harmful, addictive substances (often associated with gluttony or “strong drink”) is discouraged, as it impairs the body and spirit.
· Neglect Health – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – poor hygiene, extreme lack of rest, or poor nutrition—is considered a violation of a body that is supposed to be a “temple”.
· Worship the Body or Worry – 1 Timothy 4:8 – physical training has limited, temporary value, primarily for this life, while godliness (spiritual training) is far superior, offering eternal benefits and value for both the present and future life. It contrasts temporal physical health with eternal spiritual health, not discouraging exercise. We are advised not to be anxious about food, drink, or clothing, indicating we should not let physical appearance or vanity become idols.
In Romans 12:1, the Apostle Paul said, realizing what God has done to redeem us from our sins, we should “Present our bodies as living sacrifices unto God!” In effect, we are not to use our physical bodies to draw attention to ourselves, by the way we dress or act, but rather to glorify God by using them as billboards of God’s amazing transforming grace.
