PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
April 18, 2026
On Sunday, April 19, we will return to our series of sermons on the Apostle’s Creed. The sermon is titled, “I Believe in Jesus Christ: Who Sits at the Right Hand of God the Father.” In this sermon, we will explore what it means for Jesus Christ to sit at the right hand of God and the significance of this declaration in our faith.
Many pastors now recognize that the widespread, diminished view of God among Christians leads to many spiritual challenges. When we view God lightly, we also diminish our understanding of sin and, ultimately, lessen our appreciation for Jesus, whom God sent as our Savior.
We must elevate our view of Jesus, who paid our debt with His blood and now sits at God’s right hand. Holding Him in rightful honor moves us beyond the shallow perspective of those who accept Him as Savior but will not submit to Him as their Lord. We pray that this sermon will encourage you to take that bold step of faith.

THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT
News Stories that Connect with Biblical Prophecy
By Wayne J. Edwards, April 18, 2026
My Fellow Watchmen,
Praise the Lord for a single voice of clarity amidst the cacophony of discord and confusion!
Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court, in a brief 30-second statement during a speech in Austin, Texas, argued that the Constitution should be interpreted according to its original meaning at the time it was written, rather than current feelings or prevailing social or political ideologies. He stated, “In questions before the court, the constitution must be interpreted on what the law meant when it was written, not what someone ‘feels’ like it should mean now. The United States Constitution does not conform to social or political ideologies.”
Thomas, who is known for his constitutional expertise, said, “Progressivism seeks to replace the basic premises of the Declaration of Independence, and hence our form of government. It holds that our rights and our dignities come not from God but from the government. It requires of the people a subservience and weakness incompatible with the Constitution premise on the transcendent origin of our rights.”
The Declaration of Independence, of course, confirms that people are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” That concept was so important to the Founders that they placed it in the second paragraph of the document. Then it specified those include “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Thomas also expressed concern over the “cynicism, rejection, hostility and animus” in the U.S., perpetuated” by Americans, especially pragmatists or self-described intellectuals. “They recast themselves as institutionalists, pragmatists, or thoughtful moderates, all as a way of justifying their failures to themselves, their consciences, and their country.”
Now, if such a man of “courage and conviction” were to speak like this at the Southern Baptist Convention in June regarding the divinely inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God; truth, with no mixture of error in its content or its intent, our Almighty God might, in His sovereign grace, allow us to experience a third Great Awakening. Contrary to the liberal pragmatists and theological moderates who are now in charge of the SBC, God’s Holy Word does not change, and it must not be interpreted on the basis of one’s compassion for those who are enslaved to sin. God’s unadulterated TRUTH is the only remedy for man’s sinful condition.
We can only pray!
Pastor Wayne
