THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT

My Fellow Watchmen,
I am very thankful for those who forward the Watchmen News Report and our Sermon Study Guides to anyone they think may be interested. The most common response from new viewers is:
- “Thank you for sharing these news stories; were it not for them, we would never hear anything about how the events of our day fit in with biblical prophecy.”
- “Thank you for the unapologetic preaching of the Word of God. We cannot find a church in our area where we can hear such preaching. Most of the pastors in this area believe in Replacement Theology, which means we never hear anything about biblical prophecy. Many churches are already apostate, and some are now displaying the rainbow flag in their sanctuaries. We are praying for you and your ministry.”
Beloved, many of today’s churches follow a church-growth formula that puts attendance numbers ahead of members’ spiritual growth. As many pastors did in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, even many pastors today are traveling from church to church in search of some “new” model of ministry that will attract more visitors to their facility. We weep at what we see, but this was all predicted—the rise of false teachers, the rise of wolves in sheep’s clothing, the rise in apostasy.
According to 2 Peter 3:3-4, true believers should expect such mockery in these last days. The end-time church is deep into Laodicean philosophy, meaning it cares more about attracting the world than in transforming people through the Word. But a church that is just like the world has nothing to offer the world. Making the church look and feel more like the world has never converted a single soul, for when entertainment replaces exposition and attraction replaces discipleship, the culture has shaped the church more than the church has shaped the culture, and that’s where we are today.
The Bible suggests an end-time church will be small. In Luke 18:8, Jesus asks if He will find any of faith when He returns. Thank God for the remnant that holds to truth and spreads truth. Remember that God has everything under control. Things are lining up; nothing is falling apart; everything is falling into place.
While watching an “online” worship service does not provide the fellowship of the brethren we all need, it is certainly better to have your time of worship at home than to listen to sermons that are theologically weak and music that is often blasphemous.
