GOOD CHEER FOR THE NEW YEAR….
If you wondered whether we were going to make it to the twelfth day of Christmas you were not alone. Mogo zoo had a very close call, consider this:
Featherdale director of life sciences Chad Staples said no animals had been hurt because of the heroic work by staff who, for more than three hours, fought the flames and spot fires which burned right into the zoo.
“We had staff in every corner making sure everyone and every animal was safe,” Mr Staples told The Daily Telegraph.
“It was hell. You can still see the flames just across from us.”
I know you will enjoy the unusual rendering of the Twelve Days of Christmas presented at the top of this post.
A Happy and prosperous 2020 to all my readers.

I’m so glad your enclosure escaped the fires, Chugley! Your readers will certainly know the “12 days of Christmas” song, but I wonder if they’re aware of a suggested meaning for the various characters? I read this explanation a while ago:-
“A popular theory that’s made the internet rounds is that the lyrics to “The 12 Days of Christmas” are coded references to Christianity; it posits that the song was written to help Christians learn and pass on the tenets of their faith while avoiding persecution. Under that theory, the various gifts break down as follows, as the myth-debunking website Snopes explained:
2 Turtle Doves = The Old and New Testaments
3 French Hens = Faith, Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues
4 Calling Birds = the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists
5 Golden Rings = The first Five Books of the Old Testament, the “Pentateuch,” which gives the history of man’s fall from grace.
6 Geese A-laying = the six days of creation
7 Swans A-swimming = the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments
8 Maids A-milking = the eight beatitudes
9 Ladies Dancing = the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit
10 Lords A-leaping = the ten commandments
11 Pipers Piping = the eleven faithful apostles
12 Drummers Drumming = the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle’s Creed
This is excellent information Paul, thanks so much! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
