Gibber! Gibber!

PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
In Matthew 24, the Bible says the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked Him, “What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” According to a Lifeway report, about 75% of Christians are asking the same questions, but sadly, about 75% of today’s pastors never preach a sermon on biblical prophecy. In answering the disciple’s question, Jesus revealed the master outline of the final events of this age, extending into the Millennium and the new heaven and new earth!
This week, Dr. Franklin Graham said, “The majority of people in America are starving for truth; starving for moral clarity; starving for the true meaning and purpose to life; starving for something more substantive than empty slogans and cheap clichés about God or about Christ; they are starving for something deeper than the entertainment-based worship events of today’s churches.”
In 1 Timothy 3:15, the Apostle Paul said that God designed His Church to serve as the “pillar and ground of the truth.” In other words, contrary to the church-growth philosophers, the Church is the steward of the truth; a protector and defender of the gospel, which includes the rapture of the Church and the return of Jesus Christ as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Rather than focusing on worldly methods to reach the unchurched, God called the Church to “equip the saints for the work of ministry,” which includes lifestyle evangelism.

THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT
News Stories that Connect with Biblical Prophecy
By Wayne J. Edwards, April 11, 2026
My Fellow Watchmen,
One of the most disturbing articles in this edition of The Watchmen’s Report is about the rise of “fake prophets” taking over the pulpits of so many churches that were once flames for the true gospel. According to evangelist John Ramirez, “There are more fake prophets in the house of God today than at any other time in my lifetime, but many Christians are not discerning the difference.” Even spiritually mature believers are engaging with these voices without testing what they hear.
Testing what they are hearing? Against what? As Tozer said 50 years ago, “Unfortunately, the ten-cent store Jesus being preached now by many men is not the Jesus that will come to judge the world. This plastic, painted Christ who has no spine and no justice, but is a soft and pliant friend to everybody, if He is the only Christ, then we might as well close our books, bar our doors, and make a bakery or garage out of our church building.” Sadly, that which God Himself established as the “Pillar and ground of truth” is now the seedbed of, at best, a compromised, if not “totally false” gospel. However, Jesus urgently warned us that this would be the case near the end of this age.
The seven churches depicted in Revelation 2 and 3 symbolize seven periods of church history. The church at Laodicea, the last to be presented, is representative of the type of church that will prevail in Christendom at the end of the Church Age.
The picture is tragic. The Church is apathetic—neither hot nor cold. This apathy springs from adopting a worldly attitude: “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and need nothing.” Jesus replies with a severe rebuke: “You do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.”
In fulfillment of this prophecy, our churches today are filled with cultural Christians who have accepted Jesus as Savior but not as Lord. They are schizophrenic Christians who walk with one foot in the Church and the other in the world. They are carnal Christians who shout “Hallelujah!” on the weekend but who live like pagans during the week. They are greedy Christians in pursuit of health, wealth, and power. The Cross and its message of sacrifice are as offensive to them as they are to the world.
We must all remain vigilant against spiritual deception. No one is immune, so everything must be tested by the Word of God. Any doctrine failing the test of Scripture must be rejected, regardless of its source. Ultimately, our faith must be anchored in Scripture, not human authority.
Please share these news articles with those in your community or network who would benefit from this information, and encourage them to stay vigilant and discerning.
