It warmed my heart to see Prince Charles, the Heir Apparent to the British throne, here in Australia again. In the midst of all the uncertainty currently swirling around your human activities, here is a solid institution, of this world, on which we can all depend, the Monarchy has existed since King Egbert’s Wessex reign in 802AD. The book, which I am coming to respect more and more, the Bible, warns you not to put your trust in Princes, – Psalm 146 – I think that has more to do with eternal trust; in this fleeting, brief, temporal, world Prince Charles gets my vote! I think you ditch the monarchy at your peril – you might get a Chimp, or a close relative, instead! I would like to thank Paul, one of my regular Blog contributors for these words:

 “I’m so glad that believers have the moral compass of the Word of God and the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide and make clear what is “true” and “right” in this confused and drifting western culture of ours that has made “shifting sand” its moral foundation. I feel sorry for those ordinary decent citizens who these days don’t know whether they’re Arthur or Martha….literally!!” 

Prince Charles has endured many of life’s trials and shifting sands, yet he still has cheerful, warm, words for you colonials. He even accepts, with good humour, that you may dump the monarchy. He qualified as a Royal Air Force pilot in 1977, flying Hunting Percival Jet Provosts at Cranwell, the Royal Air Force academy, proving himself a man of mettle, not just a coddled aristocrat.
