CROCS AND FLOCKS

CROCS & FLOCKS
In this unusually titled sermon, CROCS & FLOCKS, Australian evangelist Vince Wall explores a sobering truth: the Church has enemies, and many of those enemies wear a deadly disguise.
In Acts 20, the Apostle Paul departs from Ephesus after approximately three years of fruitful ministry. During that time, many Ephesians were saved, and the impact of the Gospel spread far beyond the city itself. In fact, the witness of Paul and his missionary companions reached throughout Asia Minor.
Paul stood as God’s messenger to a pagan world—much as faithful believers are called to do today.
Acts 19:20 declares: “So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
When the Gospel is faithfully proclaimed, even in the darkest places, God can transform lives, communities, and entire cities.
In Acts 20, Paul reflects on the Endeavours of the Church—its labour and ministry.
He speaks of the Excellency of the Church—its value and preciousness in the sight of God.
But he also warns about the Enemies of the Church—those who seek to undermine and destroy God’s work.
The early Church faced opposition from without and corruption from within, and the same dangers confront the Church today. That is why Paul issued a solemn warning to the elders at Ephesus, and why believers must remain vigilant.
The Lord Jesus Himself warned of wolves in sheep’s clothing—predators who appear harmless but seek to devour the flock.
The Church must never forget that while Christ’s flock is precious and there are still wolves among the sheep just as there are still deadly crocs lurking in some Australian waters.
Crocs & Flocks
In farms in the Aussie tropics lurk some ugly psychotics,
They silently stalk their prey on any given day.
With deadly ambitions they silently approach their victims,
They are the big, bad crocs who love to devour the flocks.
In churches preaching biblical topics, lurk some ugly psychotics,
They seem to bow and pray on any given Sunday.
Armed with deadly doctrines that are really just spiritual toxins,
These wolves in shepherds’ frocks seek to devour the flocks.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves”
(Matthew 7:15)
