CORRECTION! CHUGLEY ALERT!
I am pleased to say that Don Batten, CEO of Creation Ministries, reads my Blog and has corrected my last posting as follows:
Carbon-14 has two extra neutrons compared to normal carbon (12), not electrons (it is formed from Nitrogen-14 by the action of cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere, where N, which has 7 protons, 7 electrons and 7 neutrons gets a proton+electron converted to a neutron, resulting in it having 6 protons and 6 electrons, which is the same as carbon, but with 8 neutrons instead of 6, making it unstable and hence radioactive).
The half-life of C14 is 5730 years as measured today, meaning that every half-life half disappears (converts to N14). After 10 half-lives it should become unmeasurable (<0.1% left of the original amount, which was small to start with). Anyway, anything in the millions of years range should have zero measurable C14, but repeatedly C14 is present, even in diamonds that are said to be billions of years old and which cannot be contaminated with C14 after they are formed.

So what does this correction mean in terms of strengthening the creation case??
Surely it means we should be accurate in what we report? I got my neutrons muddled with my electrons, and did not explain my thoughts in a scholarly fashion? I think part of the reason people generally don’t believe the Bible is because they are not given logically presented reasons for the history contained therein. Carbon is a very important substance for evolutionists trying to argue for the earth’s old age. Thus it is important that the information we give about it is scientifically accurate. It is even harder for an evolving monkey trying to wade through the information and make sense of what often appears to be gibberish, and to write accurately all the time! I am indebted to Don Batten who takes his work extremely seriously. He is, after all, a Defender of The Faith, par excellence!
