YOU’D BE BONKERS….
You’d be bonkers not to go via Honkers …
… as the old Aussie advertisement for Cathay Pacific used to go. Some of you will be old enough to remember this advertisement, which was displayed for ages, and dominated the skyline over Kings Cross Sydney. Now you might be bonkers to go there at all, especially if you are Chinese. The gracious former British Colony is being subjected to a huge tug of war with the Totalitarian Republic of China.
Hong Kong, as we know it today, was born when China’s Qing dynasty government was defeated in the First Opium War in 1842, when it ceded Hong Kong Island to Britain. … Under the principle of ‘One Country, Two Systems’, Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China on 1 July 1997.
The Chinese want to alter the law so that citizens of Hong Kong, (and who knows who else?) can be extradited for “crimes” and be tried in mainland China, one country, one system. This jurisdiction is not noted for its leniency towards “other religions”. This monkey thought it was interesting to see that the two million protesters in Hong Kong have embraced the hymn “Sing Hallelujah to the Lord” as their main protest song.
The silence from Donald Trump and Scott Morrison is deafening!

Up ’til now I thought these huge protests were about protecting Hong Kong from further judicial control of mainland China. From what you say Chugley…and I confirmed it with this short video…there is a spiritual side to this protest. I pray that God’s Name will be honoured. These people are not only seeking judicial autonomy, but spiritually it appears they want to hold onto what is precious to them!

My thoughts exactly Paul. Many thanks for confirming this to my evolving monkey mind. I find humanity so confusing. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
Dear Chugley, I have fond memories of visits to ‘Honkers’, a memory from my first is asking the man behind the desk; “Can you direct me to Waterloo Road?” Ah, “Waterroo Load” was the answer. Interesting the protesters song. There are many christians in H K. Yes, the silence from world leaders is very obvious. They are in a bind, upset China and “made in China” could be at risk. How would we survive without that. Fortunately, a higher power is in charge, and we too can join in; “Sing Hallelujah to the Lord”.
