UNEXPECTED CHANGE
Today’s Devotional reading from Daily Bread featured a musing from Bill Crowder. It prompted this monkey to comprehend that climate change should not be confused with weather change.
Crowder tells the story of how in 1943, warm Chinook winds hit Spearfish, South Dakota, quickly raising the temperature from – 4 degrees Fahrenheit to + 45 degrees Fahrenheit. That drastic weather change – a swing of 49 degrees took place in just 2 minutes. The widest temperature change recorded in the USA over a 24 hour period is an incredible 103 degrees Fahrenheit! On January 15th 1972, Loma Montana, saw the temperature jump from – 54 degrees Fahrenheit to + 49 degrees Fahrenheit.
Before jumping to Thunbergian style conclusions about our planet’s behaviour, it would be wise to carefully consider the facts over a century or two.
