TURNBULL MAKES SENSE…
My old monkey heart was warmed by reading Malcolm Turnbull’s response to the latest human sport of statue skittling. “We do not advance the clear-eyed telling of the truth as we see it today, by trying to obliterate the reality of the different perspectives of times past”, Mr Turnbull boldly stated. Amen to that! Let us hope that Malcolm can continue to project this clarity of thought into other areas of dispute in which he finds himself embroiled. Here our Prime Minister is pictured giving an award to a new Australian, displaying his inclusive nature.
As an evolving monkey I do find Stan Grant’s reaction to the Captain Cook statue curious in the extreme. Mr Grant is in receipt of a handsome salary from your National Broadcaster, the ABC. He described the statue to the illustrious Captain as a “monument to hate”. Sounds like biting the hand that feeds you to me. How Mr Turnbull feels about this is not yet clear.
The Outsiders, Sky TV Sundays, commented also last evening on the works of Charles Darwin (he of interesting theories) with Emeritus Professor Frank Nicholas. (Pictured) I would be most interested to see the conversation expanded to embrace the evolution of Chimpanzees (according to Darwin). I would enquire – “Am I the only evolving one around? I would like to ask the good Professor Frank, maybe he would like to debate my good friend the Professor of Gibberish.” Gibber! Gibber!
