SPUN OUT!
My monkey mind is spinning, but, isn’t it wonderful we live in a democracy that can change situations!
Thank you to my correspondent Paul for sending in this observation:
‘I’m presently reading a book by Dr Michael Youssef. He explains that as our western “Christian” societies become more secular…including impotent churches…, so we are separating ourselves from the moral precepts that previously guided and formed us. He continues, ”If we in the church do not live out godliness in our own lives and if we do not demand godliness from our leaders, then we will get the leaders we deserve. We will get the government we deserve. God will ‘give us over’ to the consequences of our own ungodliness”. Youssef bases this thesis on Romans 1:24 ‘God gave them over to the sinful desires of their hearts.’

I am inclined to think your wise old book, the Bible, has some pertinent words for this day:
2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

How good that our new PM, Scott Morrison, would fully affirm the intent and spirit of these verses! Let’s hope and pray that our PM’s “path” will be one of integrity and good will to all Aussies…thus making it a “straight path” in God’s eyes.
