SINGING STARS
Mrs Chugley and I like to begin each day with a reading from Our Daily Bread. Yesterday’s author was Remi Oyedele from Nigeria:
‘Using acoustic astronomy, scientists can observe and listen to the sounds and pulses of space. They’ve found that stars don’t orbit in silence in the mysterious night sky, but rather generate music. Like humpback whale sounds, the resonance of stars exists at wavelengths or frequencies that may not be heard by the human ear. Yet, the music of stars and whales and other creatures combine to create a symphony that proclaims the greatness of God.’
We were both reminded of The Almighty God’s question of Job :
‘Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened or who laid the corner stone thereof; when the morning stars sang together, and all The Sons of God shouted for joy?’ (Job 38:4-7)
Of course, my readers will also be familiar with Lorenzo’s moonlight serenade to Jessica in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice (Act V: Scene 1 lines 58 – 65).
”Sit Jessica: look, how the floor of heaven
Is thick inlaid with patines of bright gold.
There’s not the smallest orb, which thou behold’st,
But in his motion like an angel sings,
Still quiring to the young-ey’d cherubins;
Such harmony is in immortal souls;
But, whilst this muddy vesture of decay
Doth grossly close it in, we cannot hear it.”

Chugley, for a chimp you have a great grasp of the old bard, … or was that Mrs Chugley’s bringing some culture to the enclosure? Either way, keep looking and listening to their united declaration of the glory of God!
Ah ha! That remains a marital secret between Mrs Chugley and I. But so pleased you enjoyed the Post, we are more and more evolving into Christian Chimps, as we study the Scriptures. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley PS: I don’t like to flatter Mrs Chugley too much, it slows her down while lapping the compound, sort of distracts her from leaping between trees at speed!
Dear Chugley,
Good reading in Our Daily Bread. Wonderful to read first thing in the morning.
The article reminds me of the words from a Christian song few years ago.
All the heavens shout Your praise
Beautiful is our God, the universe will sing
Hallelujah to You our King.
words Reuben Morgan
The psalm writers had revelation three thousand years ago on what science is now discovering.
Hallelujah!
Great comment Sydneysider – thanks! Where did all those wonderful songwriters disappear to? Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
Thanks for the topic of “space sound”. I’m sure that God enjoys the music of His heavens, which we don’t hear. I’m sure He enjoys that a lot more that some of the sounds we hear, classified “music”? I was reading recently of one of man’s space explorations, that has traveled millions of kilometers, and they now have a fuzzy image of something, they don’t quit know what it is. I pondered the cost of such a discovery. Many billions I assume, and what for?. What has that discovery done, or what can it ever do for the starving of this world, or those who are fleeing war. The folly of man. I’m ever so thankful that I know who is still in charge. Can I hear Him saying,” whatever are they thinking”, but then He knows what they are thinking. I’m glad Job of old had that conversation with God.
Wonderful comment Milton many thanks! It warms this old monkey’s heart! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
Nice one.
Gee, thanks! Chugley
I wasn’t familiar with Lorenzo’s serenade to Jessica, but what a wonderful description of our frail humanity and spiritual “deafness” Shakespeare makes in the last few lines of this poem.
Somehow he wasn’t called “THE BARD” for no reason! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
