QUESTIONING QUENTIN…
This monkey applauds Outsiders for inviting Quentin Dempster, the ABC’s veteran broadcast journalist, onto their show yesterday.
Perhaps you will forgive me for being confused. I could not work out just what Quentin’s answer was to the simple question, “Why does the ABC appear so biased?”. In spite of a grilling by all three of the Outsiders, Rita, James and Rowan, I remained none the wiser. Their quarry deftly parried all thrusts for the truth. Quentin even stated that he believed that there was, “no right wing or left wing, just the plain facts”. Is this a new age mantra?
Even when Rowan Dean played a clip of some radical women, in traditional dress, making astounding, and to my monkey mind, totally unfounded and biased, comments about Tony Abbott and Peter Dutton on the ABC’s The Drum, Quentin deflected the criticism. This clip was factual, and it showed extreme bias amounting to incitement to political violence, in my monkey opinion. I wonder if Quentin believes that evolution is fact, and that you are all related to Chimpanzees? It gives us Chimps a bad name when stories like this are linked to us.
The Zoo thinks there is only one man who could pin this slippery customer down. That man is Gerard Henderson, of the Sydney Institute and right- wing journalist extraordinaire with the Australian Newspaper. Bring it on Outsiders!

“No right wing or left wing, just the plain facts”. To paraphrase, I guess Quentin’s saying that old adage…”the truth lies somewhere in the middle…” which is probably correct when “truth” or facts are free from our subjective interpretations and conclusions.
A very balanced comment, if I might say so Paul! More balanced than the ABC which you pay for, I am just hoping they don’t turn on the zoo and bring their gender bending ideas here! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley

I am not at all surprised that these was no direct answer. The ABC corporately has come to a delusionary conclusion that they are not biased. It is obvious that this decision has been reached in meetings within the ABC. They trot out the “party line” that the ABC does not have any bias, each time any of their presenters are challenged.
Just check Media Watch of 20 May in which the critic gave a proper flogging to Sky News, Murdoch Press, local newspapers for being heavily biased toward conservative views. He also critisised television and radio shock jocks as also being heavily biased toward the conservative side. That is his opinion and he is entitled to say so. He then gave a pronouncement that the ABC was even-handed through the election. Delusional or lying, certainly not for me to judge. But certainly no discernment skills for an experienced journalist and critic. Just follow the “party line”
As the Nazi propagandist Goebbels practiced, repeat a lie enough times and it becomes the truth.
