PERSPECTIVES
Algy was holding forth in the tea room (which backs onto my compound,) and I overheard another of his tall stories. He had come to believe in the historical truth of the Bible late in life. (The zoo is closed to visitors at the moment, so I can more clearly hear such conversations.)
Algy had renewed his belief, after praying to God, at age 48. He had been prompted to consider that Jesus Christ actually had risen from the dead. This was precisely what he had been taught at school, but at that time he had rejected the concept as myth, because the science department had taught that the earth was millions of years old, contradicting Genesis. He had figured, “If Genesis is myth, how can you trust the rest of it?” Off he had dashed to race cars, fly aeroplanes and pursue excitement! One day, when all had seemed hopeless, the words of the School Chaplain had thundered in his ears, ‘Boys, if you remember nothing else, remember Jesus rose from the dead.’
Soon after his faith had been renewed, it had been absolutely confirmed, when he had heard a speaker called Armstrong, from Creation Ministries, explain why you could trust Genesis as real History. Then he had come to watch a video of the eruption of Mt St Helen’s, which had occurred in May, 1980.
The mountain had erupted with the total force of 33,000 times the force of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in WW II. The blast had:
- removed the top 1,312 feet of the mountain
- levelled 124 square miles of pine forest
- sloshed Spirit LAKE 800 feet up the side of the mountain, and
- raised the lake’s elevation by 200 ft when it sloshed back.
Suddenly, Algy had grasped how blind he had been and understood at once the power and majesty of God. This had brought an entirely new dimension to his faith.
May I suggest that you order the story of Mt St Helen’s, from here? https://austore.creation.com/mount-st-helens-dvd You never know, it might help to convert another Algy, or bolster your own faith.

I can concur with Algy; the Mt St Helens video reveals some compelling evidence that challenges traditional slow and gradual geological formation dogma. Well worth the watch to expand your thoughts beyond the limited horizons you have believed all your life. Well worth a watch!
High praise indeed Greg, you are one of my esteemed mentors in these matters. Avoid the Corona, unless its in a bottle! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
