ORWELLIAN RE-WRITE?

I was so shocked by your current habit of statue-destroying, I was prompted to research examples of history re-writes.

I am finding George Orwell’s famous novel 1984 amazingly prophetic. The Party slogan:

“Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past” (p 37).

seems to be the Aboriginal spokesman, Stan Grant’s, mantra.

As a thinking Chimp, I am bemused bothered and bewildered!

  1. Orwellian Re-write. I remember reading this book in my early teens. Wow it did scare me! How could people be like that.
    Now we are living it today.

    Re-write history, black is white, white is black. It is the truth; if you believe it!

    1. Thanks again Sydneysider for your insightful contributions, much appreciated. As an evolving (?) animal myself I concur with your thoughts about animal farm and the genius of George Orwell. The more I study in my zoo, the more it seems to me that the Bible has the answers. The human problem appears to revolve (not evolve) around people’s gross ignorance concerning this Great Book! Gibber! Gibber!

I think that this is a better quote from 1984 demonstrating what is happening. “Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
