A Kind soul threw a Daily Telegraph newspaper into my enclosure yesterday. I liked a witty note from Ross of Parramatta on the letters page.

“As soon as North Korea attacks Australia, China will protect us. They won’t want to lose such a huge investment.” They must breed thinkers in Parramatta!

I also noticed the massive Asteroid called “Florence” that flounced by our planet. Some details for you:

Asteroid Florence flew by Earth last week, 31 August and 1^st September. skimming at a distance of 7 million kilometres (4.4 million miles). At 4.4 kilometres across (2.7 miles) It’s the biggest asteroid to come this close in more than a century.

It’s roughly round, but with a ridge along its equator and at least one large crater ,according to radar images obtained by NASA when Florence was at its closest on 31 August and 1 September.  Florence, offered a rare opportunity for observation by NASA.

The last time Florence was this close to the Earth was in 1890, and it won’t approach so near again until after the year 2500.

This would have given the Rum ‘un a big headache had it changed course and pranged into North Korea!

Think about it from this Chimp’s perspective, if this lump had hit earth it would not matter what bombs the Rum un might be planning. The ruler of the universe has the final say. If you doubt that, have a look at what Irma is up to. Is it coincidence these massive events are named after women?
