IGNORANCE…
‘IGNORANCE IS NOT A SIMPLE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE BUT AN ACTIVE AVERSION TO KNOWLEDGE, THE REFUSAL TO KNOW, ISSUING FROM COWARDICE, PRIDE, OR LAZINESS OF MIND.’ (Karl Popper)
Words to reflect upon as Volume 41, No 2 of CREATION has been published.
Some of the major articles are:
- An Interview with fossil researcher, Vance Nelson.
- The Amazing Changes in a Newborn Baby’s Circulation.
- ‘Extreme’ Living fossils shout “After Their Kind”.
- The Octupus: Intelligent, Evolution-Defying Master of Camouflage.
- Synchronized Dance of Dwarf Galaxies.
- The Blue Rose.
- Water and Wind Gaps during Late Flood Run-Off.
- Electric Spider Flight.
- Antony van Leeuwenhoek: Discoverer of Bacteria and Refuter of Spontaneous Generation.
But there are minor nuggets of knowledge:
- Jerusalem Inscription Discovery
- Celebrity Opinion of Evolution Can Influence Acceptance
- Pontius Pilate Named on Ring
(It takes me weeks to mine these articles plus many other features, so I am relieved that it appears only four times a year.)
Of course, the Octupus at the zoo is delighted to be the cover creature of the magazine. He can be photographed in the Aquarium for a small fee.
Gibber! Gibber!

It’s all very well Karl Popper saying above that the scientist “is always ready to submit to facts…”, and the mystic “is free to maintain anything because he need not fear any test”. The problem is that the “facts” of the scientist might not be based on the “truth”…that is, the deduced facts are only as good as the original man-made premises made a few steps back.
The mystic, in my case the Christian, begins with faith in the original, Divinely -inspired premises about Origins, then using that as a basis, can build insights and understandings about life and creation from those foundational premises.
Dear Paul,
A wise, old chimpanzee advised: “Believe nothing that you hear; half of what you see; and always do your own summing up.”
Heartening to witness your qualification of the eminent Popper! (Did you have a wise, old codger teaching you when you were a young human lad?) Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
