GROUNDED?
Astonishing to hear that in this day and age, there is said to be a shortage of pilots in Australia. This monkey has his doubts as to whether this is not just another modern day dog’s breakfast of mixed truths. Australia has an illustrious history of producing excellent pilots, her bomber pilots in World War Two were particularly outstanding, said to be largely due to long hours spent plowing straight furrows with tractors. It was not a quantum leap for these farmers to swap tractors for Lancaster bombers, and drone through the skies to drop a few tons of high explosive on the Germans. QANTAS has an enviable and unblemished record of safely flying passengers since its foundation in Winton in November 1920.
Australia has superb weather for flying training. Surely you can organise yourselves to make sure you have plenty of competent pilots coming along, without resorting to importing foreigners. (Prince Harry recently topped up his helicopter hours flying in Australia. A high recommendation, indeed!) Mixed reports of “pilot shortages” are very confusing for an evolving monkey to grasp. Maybe evolution will speed up. and you may see a Chimp in the cockpit!
