I have received much comment in support of Ross Cameron’s faux pas on the Outsiders show, and thought it would be fair to publish an example below, which the zoo felt spoke pretty much for most who have written in. Name and address was supplied, but in this rather dangerous age, I have decided not to publish that. I hope you understand! Can you imagine what Paul Hogan would have to say? I remember a Chimp, who came to our zoo from Perth, WA, they had a sign outside the zoo there, he said, saying “Poms on bikes welcome, Meals on Wheels!” Not a Pom complained! People had a sense of humour and proportion back then.

I am writing to register my disgust at the firing of Ross Cameron for such a 
ridiculous reason.

Taken in context he was mimicking those who fear the “yellow” horde from the 
north. In describing Asian people’s appearance as “black haired, slanty 
eyed, yellow skinned people” he was parodying the average Australian 
attitude of 50yrs ago. In context  (as usual) he was being positive and 
praising China and what it has achieved.

Apparently according to Andrew Bolt, Mr Cameron’s sacking was in response to 
an ABC leftist support group called “Sleeping Giants”. If that is true Mr 
Whittaker, you need to get some testicular fortitude!

We have  two Asian children, whom we love dearly, and  they didn’t take offense at 
such descriptions, knowing Ross’s penchant for hyperbolic expressions and 
physical posturing to make a point.
Surely it is the motivation behind a speech that determines offense or 
lack thereof. Ross has shown over many shows his respect for both Russia and 
China.

No one seems to take offense at calling us “privileged white males” or do 
they selectively not consider Caucasians a race, whereas Chinese are.

While Rowan Dean is great on his own, Ross and Rowan make a greater team 
sparking off each other. So much for free speech.

Incidentally, the title “Outsiders” should give you a hint as to what the 
thrust of the show is all about, it has been a breath of real fresh air in 
the swamp of leftist media.
There are many ordinary modern Australians who love the show as it is. Why 
mess up something that is working? If this sort of gutless stupidity 
continues, Mr Whittaker, you will be presiding over a dead network.

Please show some gumption and re-instate Ross Cameron to his position as co 
host of Outsiders.

Heaven help Australia if such politically correct bastardry can get a good 
man fired. When did God die and put the lefty lunatics in charge of our 
country!
