BLACK GOLD – OIL THAT IS!
‘The shift in the balance of forces in the Gulf resulting from U.S. involvement was one of the reasons forcing Iran to cease hostilities in 1988.’ (Martin S. Navias The First Tanker War ‘History Today’. Navias is a lecturer with the Department of War Studies, King’s College London.)
Shouldn’t Australia be among the first nations in the world to be part of an international operation guaranteeing all shipping in The Straits of Hormuz, following the seizure of a British tanker last month by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
Australia’s reserves of oil – the modern world’s ‘black gold’ – are perilously low. Just ask our most experienced former general, Jim Molan.

I was glad to hear this morning that, to secure our necessary oil supplies here in Oz, our Federal Government has approached the US to purchase oil. The Sydney Morning Herald says –
“The Morrison government is negotiating with the Trump administration to buy millions of barrels of oil from America’s tightly guarded fuel reserve under an emergency strategy to lower the risk of Australia plunging into an economic and national security crisis.
The deal forms a core plank of a new push to shore up dangerously low domestic storage levels, which have left the nation vulnerable to price hikes and rationing in the event of war or disaster in the oil-rich Middle East or increasingly volatile South China Sea.”
That is a good decision Paul. Thanks for pointing it out. It seems there may be some brains in your Government yet? I just hope the zoo keeps going. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
