BIG BOING!
After reading the following recent statement by scientist Stephen Hawking, perhaps you can understand why I have such a struggle grasping the truth of my origins. The heading picture purports to show 350 million years of rock layers, were they there?
“Hawking said that time was present in a bent state amid the nearly infinitely small quantum form of the singularity before the Big Bang. Time was distorted along another dimension, it was always reaching closer to nothing but didn’t become nothing.”

I think Charles Haddon Spurgeon grasped the truth:
‘Away with the old-fashioned belief of our forefathers because of the supposed discoveries of science. What is science? The method by which man tries to conceal his ignorance. It should not be so, but so it is. You are not to be dogmatic in theology, my brethren, it is wicked; but for scientific men, it is the correct thing. You are never to assert anything very strongly; but scientists may boldly assert what they cannot prove, and may demand a faith far more credulous than any we possess.
Forsooth, you and I are to take our Bibles, and shape and mould our belief according to the ever-shifting teachings of so-called scientific men. What folly is this!
Well said Charles. I reckon the really Big Bang is yet to come.

“Dear Mr Hawking. I have not the faintest idea of what you are talking about. You have totally lost me”. In the words of one of our famous politicians; “Please explain”. And I guess you can’t. I’m not surprised that Chugley is keen to stay where he is, fancy evolving into a ‘gobbly gook’ world. I too am waiting for the real,(and final) big bang. And won’t that perplex a few of Mr. Hawking’s followers. I’m glad I won’t be around to see it!
Wow…from Hawking to Spurgeon in one blog Chugley! Well-linked too!
I can see Spurgeon’s tongue-in-cheek telling people of God we are not allowed to be dogmatic about our faith…but the rest of the world is allowed to be about its gods! These roughly 150 years later, that attitude is still the same, I think. It’s a salutary lesson to me to be confident in the certainty, power and authority believers have in God’s Word..the Truth. Don’t let the secular world think it has all the answers!
I like Spurgeon’s incisive mind Paul , I think he grasped the TRUTH…. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
