ATHEIST CONUNDRUM
I have only recently discovered the genius of Clive Staples (C.S.) Lewis. His prolific mind created the Narnia series and The Screwtape Letters, to name but a few. I came across this piece he wrote challenging atheism:
“Supposing there was no intelligence behind the universe, no creative mind. In that case, nobody designed my brain for the purpose of thinking. It is merely that when the atoms inside my skull happen, for physical or chemical reasons, to arrange themselves in a certain way, this gives me, as a by-product, the sensation I call thought. But, if so, how can I trust my own thinking to be true? It’s like upsetting a milk jug and hoping that the way it splashes itself will give you a map of London. But if I can’t trust my own thinking, of course I can’t trust the arguments leading to Atheism, and therefore have no reason to be an Atheist, or anything else. Unless I believe in God, I cannot believe in thought: so I can never use thought to disbelieve in God.” C.S. Lewis
This monkey does not know all the answers, but I do enjoy having respectful conversations with people who care more about coming to the right answer than proving their side. Whatever that might be.

We’re all on a path called “life”. The atheist’s (or any unbeliever’s) path has very little boundary or direction to it, so the prevailing winds of thought and worldly doctrines make them so susceptible to lies and deceit.
What a positive contrast is the path offered the Christian believer…God’s Truth provides a path which has clear boundaries for “good, right and true” living, and a purposeful direction.
Two wonderful verses that support this thought:-
Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life”…..and
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path”.
So true Paul! Thanks! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
Yes, atheism is a self-refuting idea.
Thanks Don! I found that C.S.Lewis explained it well so my monkey mind could grasp it. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
