APPEASEMENT – ABBOTT STYLE
Not for no reason did Rowan Dean and his co-hosts on The Outsiders, Rita Panahi and James Morrow award Tony Abbott the Mr Bingley Award yesterday. Created by Jane Austen in Pride and Prejudice, Mr Bingley is a handsome, amiable, wealthy young gentleman from the north of England who lacks resolve and is easily influenced by others. Abbott has done a back-flip which makes Mr Bingley seem positively resolute.
Mr Abbott (obviously under immense pressure from those who are the equivalent of his Mr Darcy) has stated that we should “not pull out of Paris” because “Our Prime Minister and our Energy Minister do not wish to do so”.
Mr Abbott’s loyalty to The Liberal Party is admirable but at this stage of Australia’s history, we need a man like Winston Churchill who will speak out against the coming war on western civilization. Not to pull out of Paris is to destroy Australia!
To appease the power brokers in The Liberal Party is to be a Mr Chamberlain proclaiming “peace in our time”.
Gibber! Gibber!
