WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

Pastor Bob Cotton, Pastor of Maitland City Church has grasped the message of radical Islam and challenges the Church and State to tackle the real problem, not the imaginary ones. This monkey is encouraged to see A Church leader standing for the TRUTH.

PASTOR BOB COTTON WRITES:
Dear Church and friends,
In the wake of the Islamic violence perpetrated against the Jewish people at Bondi, like many, I am finding it very difficult to have any confidence in our federal and state governments and their proposed new laws.
From what appears to be a deliberate failure to respond to numerous “red flags” prior to the atrocity, then, the shambolic handling of matters afterwards leaves one dumbfounded.
The refusal to call a Royal Commission, the spectacular back flip, the denial of a religious motive and then poorly prepared and rushed through hate speech and firearms laws that will do nothing to address the issue of islamic violence all point to a government who have lost the plot and to a prime minister that could be easily mistaken as a mentally ill dictator.
This knee jerk reaction of targeting honest, law abiding Australian firearm owners is a blatant act of blame shifting. It is deceitful and dishonest and almost every Australian can see straight through it. The hate speech laws will be no different and potentially far worse.
THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

The government seems to have committed itself to a perpetual path of ignoring the elephant in the room and it also appears to be intentionally targeting the wrong demographic.
The issue is not firearms, it is quranic inspired violence. Our government seems to be deliberately ignoring the home made explosive devices that the Bondi jihadis used to nil effect and the weaponising of motor vehicles and knives which we have seen both here and overseas. The problem is the ideology, not the instruments of choice.
So, if firearms aren’t the real issue and this is the government’s misdirected reaction, one has to wonder if the new hate speech laws will be pointed in the right direction or whether they will also target the wrong demographic.
If antisemitism is to be seriously confronted, the new laws must be unapologetically directed at those who weaponise the violent verses in the Quran which clearly call for the slaughter of Jews and Christians. Of course, this is far too much to expect from a government who relies on the imported votes of people whose religious ideology is steeped in the hatred of Jews. This causes very legitimate concerns that the new legislation will be used against anyone who says anything that “big brother” Albanese doesn’t approve of rather than where it should be properly applied.
THE SCAM OF RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION

Mr Albanese has now stated that there will be “religious exemption” in his laws and in a cowardly act made reference to the Bible’s Old Testament. Odd that he would quote a book that he refused to put his hand on when being sworn in as PM but I digress. I am quickly coming to the opinion that our PM is bordering on the brink of insanity.
Anyone with even the most basic understanding of the Bible can see that the Old Covenant was about a visible, physical kingdom with geographical boundaries and flesh and blood enemies while the New Covenant is an invisible, spiritual kingdom, without boundaries and our enemies are spiritual (Luke 17:20-21, Eph 6:12, 2 Cor 10:4). The only things we are called to “put to death” are the “misdeeds of our body” and our lusts (Rom 8:13). We do not advance Christ’s Kingdom through fear, violence and murder.
In stark contrast to this the texts of Islam clearly vilify, insult and degrade Jews and also calls for their murder along with those who don’t convert. There is no division in the quran where violence is abrogated. Mr Albanese’s “religious loophole” means islamic preachers will be able to continue to do business as usual and spew hatred towards the Jewish people without fear of repercussion.
I dont think it will be long before Mr Albanese will be inducted into the islamic hall of fame or at least be nominated for “dhimmi of the year” but in the meantime, we are called to pray for our governments and those in authority (1 Tim 2:1-2). I do truly pray for Mr Albanese’s salvation and deliverance not only for his sake but for ours as well.
INTENDED OR UNINTENDED” TARGETS”

Mr Albanese says his laws will “target islamophobia”, warning bells should be ringing loud and clear here folks. Apart from “spiritual decline” Islam is the greatest threat to all western societies. We must be free to say that. It is not hate, it is reality.
It is not hate to seek to preserve our Judaeo Christian culture or to call for an end to mass migration, to call for the deportation of non citizen criminals and their families or to oppose the creation of a two tier legal system. It is national suicide to continue on the path we are on.
With all this in mind, every bible believing Christian should be very concerned. We are called by God Almighty to speak His truth in love (Eph 4:15). This means boldly confronting and exposing sin, false doctrine, false religions, perversion and every form of wickedness (Eph 4:11). We are to challenge the status quo of this world and call lost sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).
This by no means is an act of hatred but is rather an act of love. Our motivation is to see sinners saved from Hell, the eternal consequence of rejecting Jesus (Jn 3:36).
CHRISTIANS WILL BE HATED BY THE WORLD

Here is the truth, Jesus said that he was hated because he exposed the deeds of this world as being evil (Jn 7:7). He also warned us that if he was hated, we, as His servants, would be hated also (Jn 15:18-20).
It follows then that our speech, at times, is going to be considered by some as hateful. This places every faithful Christian minister and everyone who clearly declares the gospel of Jesus Christ on very thin ice under the new laws.
The reality of this has already been seen in Canada and the United Kingdom where preachers of the Gospel have been prosecuted. At the same time the Islamic elephant in the room is either ignored or given a free pass for the sake of a deluded multicultural dream, fear of reprisals or dare I say the treasonous and anti-christ conduct of governments which I believe our government could be accused of.
If Australia has any hope of a return to our more prosperous days it will not come through legislation but through a return to Jesus Christ in humility and repentance (Acts 3:19). Much of this responsibility lies upon those who take the pulpit (1 Peter 4:11). There must be a clear message and a call to salvation regardless of cost. Church is not a social club it is a hospital for the spiritually sick and the healer is Christ the pulpit should affirm that truth and the biblical remedy on every occasion (Matt 9:12).
I pray that every Christian minister be encouraged and emboldened to preach the gospel (Eph 6:18-20) and confront sin and expose wickedness (Eph 4:11) as we are called to do – even if this is in breach of the new laws.
In closing, remember the words of Peter “We aught to obey God rather than man” (Acts 5:29)
Many blessings to all

PASTOR BOB COTTON

Pastor Bob Cotton has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal.
We know him as the man at Maitland Christian Church’s podium delivering sermons but Pastor Robert ‘Bob’ Cotton’s passion for advocating for the community runs much deeper.
In fact, it was his advocacy which saw a significant change that went all the way to NSW Parliament.
Today, the born and bred Maitland man has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to the community as an advocate for child protection legislation.
“I’m very honoured and humbled. I was totally surprised,” Pastor Cotton said on receiving his OAM.
It came after the local Maitland pastor spent countless hours visiting pubs and walking the streets with a clipboard in hand, petitioning for harsher punishment for those who conceal child sex abuse.
Speaking to Australian Community Media, Pastor Cotton reflects on the Royal Commission and the overturned case of the Archbishop Philip Wilson as the catalyst for his advocacy.
“At that point, no clergyman had ever been held to account for concealing child sex offences of his colleagues so something had to change. Every denomination was guilty,” he said.
