The incidents have been too frequent and intense to be random accidents. They are part of an organised effort. Neither the Israeli government nor the Trump administration has formally declared war against Iran, but the rhetoric of each has stopped only slightly short of such a declaration. T The Trump administration has made clear its intention to inflict as much pain as possible on Iran, including with, but not limited to, economic sanctions. The Netanyahu government’s voluminous rhetoric on Iran has been every bit as hostile as what has come out of Washington, or as what has come in the opposite direction from Tehran. Make no mistake about what is going on. This is not a set of actions “short of war,” as some people have described it. It is war. We certainly should worry about the conflict escalating into something so big that everyone will describe it as a war. But that does not make what already has transpired anything less than acts of war. In this regard, do not be deceived by the Iranian regime’s downplaying of the recent attacks and its restraint—so far—regarding retaliation. A date that is circled on Iranian policy-makers’ calendars is January 20, 2021. The Iranians can read American polls, and the dominant thread at the moment in Iranian thinking about security policy is to tough it out until there is regime change in Washington. Iranian leaders don’t want to be suckered into the sort of October (or July) surprise that would generate a rally-round-the-flag effect in America and could rescue Donald Trump’s fading re-election chances, although they realise the restraint does risk making them appear weak. Iran and China Foster Secret 25–Year Deal…. July 17, 2020 Under the still-secret deal, China will have unrestricted access to Iran’s air bases and promises to rebuild its Electronic Warfare capabilities in return for cheap oil and factories with transport links to carry its exports to the West. Russia may also be involved. President Hassan Rouhani and FM Mohammed Zarif, the live wires of the landmark as yet unpublished 25-year comprehensive cooperation agreement inked in between Iran and China, are now in close rapport with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards over this deal. While promising to invest heavily in Iranian infrastructure, oil and technology, China appears to be offering military benefits that could change the geopolitical balance of power in the Middle East – provided the deal is finalised and takes off. Meanwhile, “the lion–dragon deal,” is drawing strong objections in Iran – especially from some powerful lawmakers who say it feeds China’s “colonialist greed.” Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attacked its secrecy, saying in a Telegram post that any agreement with foreign parties “that does not consider the Iranian nation’s will is invalid.” One parliamentarian Hojjat al-Islam Hassan Nowrouzi, [pictured above] accused the government of granting China a 25-year lease of Kish Island and secretly selling fishing rights in its southern waters. Zarif retorted to the critics: “Pay attention to the global shift in power.” A government spokesman said on June 23 that the deal proves the “failure of US policies aimed at isolating Iran.” The hard-line Javan noted this week that this is the best time for the deal since the US feels “weak” against China. China and the South China Sea… 18 July 2020 The US has rejected all Chinese claims beyond the 12-nautical mile territorial area around the Spratly Islands, citing in particular the waters surrounding Vanguard Bank off Vietnam, Luconia Shoals of Malaysia, the area within Brunei’s exclusive economic zone, and Natuna Besar of Indonesia. The statement also said China’s claims over the submerged feature James Shoal near Malaysia were unlawful. “We are making clear: Beijing’s claims to offshore resources across most of the South China Sea are completely unlawful, as is its campaign of bullying to control them,” Pompeo said in the statement. “The world will not allow Beijing to treat the South China Sea as its maritime empire.” A US Navy destroyer challenged China in the South China Sea with a freedom-of-navigation operation on Tuesday. The USS Ralph Johnson sailed near the disputed Spratly Islands, the Navy said, adding in a statement that “unlawful and sweeping maritime claims in the South China Sea pose a serious threat to the freedom of the seas.” The operation, one of at least six such operations this year, comes after the US State Department officially rejected most of China’s sea claims, declaring its maritime efforts to assert sovereignty unlawful. Russia Bombs al–Bab for the First Time………. Friday July 17th, 2020 Russia has launched a deadly aerial attack on the Syrian city of al-Bab, as they continue to apply pressure on Turkey to gain advantages in both Idleb and Libya reports Baladi News. On Wednesday night, Russia bombed the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, resulting in a number of casualties and extensive damage to property and residential buildings. This is the first time that the city of al–Bab has been bombed by Russian warplanes since the Syrian and Turkish National Army laid siege to the city, following the expulsion of the Islamic State in 2017. What is the message that Russia wants to deliver to Turkey by bombing al-Bab? Major Youssef Hammoud,[pictured above] an official spokesperson for the National Liberation Front, says that the message behind the strikes is not clear because the Russian-Turkish differences and disputes have become international and regional matters, mainly regarding Libya, so it is difficult to pinpoint what the Russians want, especially since their policies keeps on changing and are based upon quick and ill-considered decisions. “In general, the message is clear, especially after Russia detected Turkey’s unwillingness to fulfil its demands with regard to Idleb and Libya,” Hammoud added in a statement to Baladi News. Researcher Turki Mustafa said that, “the Russian escalation taking place in Idleb, as well as in al-Bab, is due to a Russian desire to exert pressure on Turkey and lead it to make concessions in Idleb, east of the Euphrates, and Libya.” Developing….. Inside the White House Bill Koenig White House Correspondent 17 July 2020 The Week in Review Trump backing away from peace efforts for now? President Trump and Jared Kushner may be backing away from the peace efforts in Israel, at least for now—maybe even longer. Praise the Lord—if this is true, it is a blessing and answer to our prayers. I can’t go into details on our extended effort yet, but it looks as though the Lord blessed the efforts. President Trump didn’t mention the peace plan in his White House press event on Tuesday or in any recent messages or speeches. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said there was nothing to report when she was asked for the status last Friday. We continue to support full sovereignty over all Judea and Samaria and the White House’s and Israel’s support of the San Remo Resolution, which would give Israel sovereignty from the Jordan River West to the Mediterranean Sea. Trump, Pompeo and Barr taking on China This was an extraordinary week with President Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Attorney General Bill Barr [pictured above] all speaking strongly against China and their tactics. Many would consider this politically risky with the election on November 3. President Trump’s base will certainly appreciate this stance, but how disruptive could it get? This is an area where prayer is critical for President Trump and his administration. As I have mentioned before, China, Iran, North Korea and Russia do not want Trump re-elected—especially China and Iran—so the likelihood of something significant happening is increasing by the week. Democrats worried Democrats greatly fear Trump’s being re-elected and will throw everything they can against him. They are not comfortable with Joe Biden and his apparent loss of mental capacities, and there is no one to replace him. The possible vice-president candidates are very weak and unimpressive. They certainly aren’t qualified to take over in the event Biden is elected and can’t continue in office. Michele Obama was a name mentioned earlier, fortunately she does not seem to be interested. Biden will do everything he can to avoid any debates with President Trump. Also, there is a strong likelihood of much more information coming out with details on Hunter Biden’s actions in the Ukraine and China, facilitated by Joe Biden. We also remain hopeful and prayerful that US Attorney John Durham will have his legal work completed that could implicate many people within the former Obama Administration, the Russian hoax and more. Iran under attack One night after another, Iran is coming under attack. They attempted to cyber-attack Israel’s water system, and since then it appears that Israel is responding strongly. This could breakout into a full-scale war between Israel and Iran. The U.S. would likely assist in some capacity. Covid 19 battle The blue states want further closing of businesses and schools, and the red states want cautious openings of both. Again, the Democrats want to do as much damage as possible to President Trump and the Republicans running for the Senate and the House. The complications of Covid 19 and its multiple strains certainly confuses things. It remains very contagious, which is the greatest challenge. Netanyahu warns ministers: Only tighter restrictions now can avert full lock-down….. July 18, 2020 The toughest decisions to impose a weekend lock-down and close summer schools were put on ice by the stormy Israeli cabinet meeting Thursday night, July 16. In support of the stepped-up fight for combating coronavirus – relentlessly spiralling since June – other restrictions were approved with immediate effect. They included restaurants – no seating only takeaway and home deliveries, gatherings were again downsized to 10 at indoor venues and 20 outside. The weekend lock-down – if it is passed by parliament in the coming week – will go into effect on July 24 and, from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, will confine people at home, except for essential errands, and shutter shops, malls, markets, hairdressers, beauty salons, zoos, museums, exhibitions, pools, gyms and tourist attractions. There was no indication of the duration of the virtual curfew to be imposed from the coming weekend. Seaside beaches remained open this Friday but will be closed to the public as of next weekend. The most contentious measure, the closure of summer schools and kindergartens, was set aside for Binyamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz to resolve this weekend. Both heads of government warned the dissenting ministers: “If we don’t act now, however hard it may be, we’ll soon be heading for another total lockdown.” The IDF reported that 722 men and women in uniform were confirmed with the virus and more than 10,000 in quarantine. At the conference the prime minister conducted prior to the cabinet session with health experts and the National Security Council, he heard from Professor Hezi Levi, Health Ministry Director General., that while many institutions worldwide were racing for a result, a covid-19 vaccine was not expected to be available for general use before next year. Dear Chugley. What a lot to read. How will I get my chores done. Yes, there are many things happening that might make one say; “this must be the end of time”. But I have a book that clearly records a large group of people around the year 100AD who thought the end was nigh. But they were told by their christian leaders, ” That no one knows the time nor the hour, of Christs return (the end of time as we know it), only God Himself. And it will come “as a thief in the night”, at a time when we are not expecting it”. So, yes things don’t look bright right now, and Christ could come before I finish writing this, or He may come in 100s of years. Jesus is “coming, ready or not”. Best be sure I am ready. In the meantime, those chores have to be done.
Thank you for your lengthy comment Milton. This monkey grapples with these matters also. I read that Jesus Himself told us to be “aware of the signs of the times” for they will come as birth pains come on a woman. He also talked about that in Luke 12:56 “Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?” My puny mind computes that we are witnessing the signs of the times of the end. I also note that Israel is back in her land as prophesied. That has not been the case since 70 AD, until 1948. But that’s a Chimp for you! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
