The Lord spoke to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this

people: He said: “Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear

what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is

the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread, and he will be a sanctuary; but for both

houses of Israel He will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And

for the people of Jerusalem, He will be a trap and a snare. Many of them will stumble; they will fall

and be broken, they will be snared and captured.” Isaiah 8:11-15

The context of Isaiah 8 is as follows. The nation of Israel had split into two kingdoms, the North referred

to as Israel, made up of 10 tribes. The South referred to as Judah composed of 2 tribes. Syria and Israel

had been warring against Judah for some time. Meanwhile, Assyria would ultimately destroy Syria and

the Northern Kingdom taking the 10 tribes of Israel into exile, though Assyria would also come and

ravage the Southern Kingdom of Judah. This was a turbulent time for Judah, the people were filled with

fear, uncertainty, surrounded by lawlessness, chaos and threats of destruction.

In the midst of these turbulent pressures God placed his strong hand on Isaiah, warning and encouraging

him not to go the way of those who were giving into the pressure to compromise. We live in a corrupt

society which is moving further and further away from God and His values. The strength of this warning

given by God to Isaiah cannot be over emphasised, even for today. Blessed is the man who does not

walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of scoffers. But his

delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1-2

Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy. It would seem Isaiah and those

who welcome his message were accused of promoting conspiracies. If you take a Biblical stance on world

happenings, be assured that before long you will be exposed to all sorts of accusations, allegations,

criticisms and censured by others. You may be called, a racist, sexist, homophobic, a conspirator, a

misogynist, Islamophobic, transphobic. We should not allow ourselves to be overcome by the bullying

tactics of the enemy. As Ephesians 6:10-11 declares; Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty

power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Part of the enemies scheming is the use of fear. do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. Many

in Isaiah’s day were consumed by fear and the dread of what was coming upon them through the

forementioned powers of Israel, Syria and Assyria. Isaiah challenged them to readjust their focus – The

Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you

are to dread. We are living in uncertain times and fear is something that can slowly entwine itself in

many aspects of our lives, causing us to trust in things, people, places, idols, etc., instead of trusting and

Timeline Ministries holding onto the Lord God Almighty. I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4 As Christians, we are called to trust in God’s power and provision, even in the face of fear. Isaiah said, when we fear the Lord, He will be our sanctuary.

The Fear of the Lord brings with it many blessings and benefits. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of

wisdom. Prov 9:10 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life turning a man from the snares of death.

Prov 14:27 The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him. Psalm 25:14 Fear the Lord, you His

saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. Psalm 34:9 The Lord fulfills the desires of those who

fear Him. Psalm 145:19 To fear the Lord is to hate evil. Prov 8:13 Do not be afraid of those who kill

the body but cannot kill the soul, rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in

hell. Matt 10:28

Fearing the Lord and clinging to His Word enabled Isaiah to boldly declare; Here am I, and the children

the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty… Verse 18

Isaiah had been called to prophesy and to use his children in his prophetic messages. Referring to one son,

named Shear-jashub, meaning “A remnant will return” (Isa 7:3) and to another son, Maher-shalal-hash

baz meaning to speed to the spoil or hurry to the plunder. (Isa 8:3). And even Isaiah’s name conveyed the

clear message to both houses of Israel, that “Salvation is of the LORD. The purpose of these living signs

was to point beyond themselves to the Lord and His Word and ultimately directing the Jewish people to

their Messiah. And Just as Isaiah and his children were living witnesses and signs of the truth of God’s

word, YOU and I are to be a “sign”, a “message”, a “living letter” to the world around us. Is your message

bold, clear and unwavering, pointing people to Jesus and the truth of God’s Word? Be on your guard;

stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love. 1 Cor 16:13 The Lord is

my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I

be afraid? Psalm 27:1

When we have a healthy fear of the Lord, we will cling to the truth of His Word, as Isaiah declared to the

people of his day, To the Law and the Testimony or as the NLT puts it, Look to God’s instructions

and teachings! Verse 20 When you find yourself in a difficult or overwhelming situation turn to the Word

of God, allow your mind to be renewed, guiding your thinking and directing your steps, keeping you on

that narrow path. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm

119:130

Greg and Judy’s Update:

Our recent ministry trip to South Australia was a real blessing with 15

speaking appointments in 20 days. The message was well received, and we look forward to returning in

the Lord’s timing. We are speaking at Mittagong on Sunday 28th May. We will be part of a day conference

in Epping, Sydney, with Awake to Israel on the 10th of June, titled ‘Who is Jesus’. The topics include Jesus

the God/Man, Jesus the Priest, Jesus the Prophet and Jesus the King. We will then be speaking at the

Concord Community Church on Sunday 11 th at 11am and 4pm. The following weekend on the16th – 18th

June we will be doing a weekend seminar at Speers Point with the Full Gospel Church. We are currently

making plans for a trip to QLD in later July and early August, while there are other opportunities in the

pipeline.

Prayer Points: Continue to uphold the nation of Israel in your prayers.

Wisdom, direction and open doors are always an ongoing focus for prayer.

The one-day conference at Epping, the Awake to Israel committee and the other speakers for the day.

Pray for the preparations Judy and I need to make for each speaking appointment along with health,

strength for our voices and endurance.

We praise God for the privilege He has entrusted to us in taking out His Word for such a time as this.

Teach me your way O Lord, and I will walk in your truth, give me an undivided heart that I may
