THE NEW DEMOCRACY – A SHIELD FOR SIN
Welcome again to Bud Hancock who writes a topical article about the new Democracy and the American Constitutional Republic. The world just faced the most important election of your generation. I trust that you all have prayed fervently that Christians in America have carefully weighed up the attributes of the two candidates, and vote according to their Christian convictions.

The New Democracy – A Shield for Sin
By Bud Hancock
Democracy – a very common word I’ve heard most of my life. Only when I was educated on the truth of our nation’s founding did I realize that the word democracy along with everything it stood for, was hated by our Founding Fathers including Benjamin Franklin who explained to a woman questioning what type of government was being constructed for America: “A republic, madam, if you can keep it”. With the word democracy being tossed around every day in nearly non-stop Democratic political ads, it may seem odd now that Old Ben made no mention of our nation being created as a democracy, but he did indicate that a real republic might become a target of those who hate living by a rigid rule of law.
It has long been a mystery to me how people who identify as Democrats can so easily latch on to “democracy” as a means of bending, if not outright shredding, our Constitution, ignoring the clear intent of the Founders statements regarding the United States being a Constitutional Republic and NOT a democracy.
Unfortunately, presently here in the United States, too many citizens have no concept of the differences between a democracy and a republic. Both systems function on a concept of representation of the people, with those representatives being elected by the citizens of each of the sovereign states, then sent to become a part of the two Houses of Congress where they will (or should) represent their states among the representatives of all the other sovereign states in the United States Congress, with such representation being based 100% on the United States Constitution.
Essentially, a democracy is rule by the majority, what many consider to be “mob rule”. In a true constitutional republic, made up of sovereign states, the rights of the citizens of each sovereign state are protected by the law of the Constitution under which no citizen’s rights may be taken away by the government, thus the rights mentioned in our Declaration of Independence as being granted by our creator were called “inalienable”, or granted by God, and not some government bureaucracy or politician. Since those inalienable rights were “God-granted”, they must be based on a much higher law than anything man could ever formulate on his own. Only when the laws of God are honored can a true republic be attained and made to function properly.
In a pure democracy (and I hate using the word “pure” alongside democracy), the rights of individual citizens and states become almost non-existent, easily ignored by the majority who have little regard for our Constitution.
Democracy, from the Democrats perspective, has long been a mystery to me, one that I mostly shied away from trying to solve. But, here I am now trying to solve that mystery for my own benefit.
The Current Election and the Abortion Connection
We have all seen the political ads from the Democratic Party, screaming loudly that “Donald Trump is a threat to OUR democracy”. I accented the word “our” because it seems that they are also accenting it in their liberal rants. So, if I want to understand why they are so jacked about the perceived threat to “their” democracy, I must look up the word to get a better handle on its true meaning.
From the American-Heritage Dictionary, I found three main meanings of the word “democracy”:
Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
A political or social unit that has such a government.
The common people, considered as the primary source of political power.
The first definition indicates that democracy is a form, or system, of government; the second definition is self-explanatory and the third definition mentions “the common people” being the primary source of political power. Examining the way our current political system functions, it becomes quite obvious that the Democratic Party, once called the party of the little guy, the common man, has now created their own interpretation of the word “democracy”.
Even though the United States was founded as a Republic, it has been operated more along the lines of a democracy, or a democratic republic, with majority rule being the driving power. But, essentially, the federal government has usurped the rights of the states to be sovereign members of the republic and, along with the attack on the Constitution and the Rule of Law, has changed the entire meaning of democracy.
In today’s political world, the people under the democratic system of government can make laws by the direct input of the majority that can severely limit, or even eliminate the rights of the minority. However, under a republican system of government, laws must abide strictly by the wording and spirit of the US Constitution, thereby protecting the rights of all citizens.
In today’s America, with the federal government determining not only the policies of the United States toward foreign nations, but pushing policies which now seem to be directed by the federal government against the sovereignty of the states, one must wonder: Why? The word “United” should mean that the entire number of American states are in agreement on all policies, especially those that so gravely affect the states that might be harmed the most by them, but alas, this does NOT seem to be the case.
The federal government, acting through the executive branch, sometimes with the collaboration of one or both Houses of Congress, and also some states, has, through political leverage, set in motion the policies of the federal government toward individual and sovereign states, establishing rules, not based on our Constitution, but on the biased whims of the political powers that happen to be in office at any given time. Thus, the nation has ceased to be a representative system of government as designed by the Founders.
The federal government has become the be-all and the end-all of government and has thus usurped the rights of all the individual states. This evolution of what once was a true republican system has now produced a de facto state of democracy, one that the Democrat Party gleefully uses to gain and maintain power and control. The normal checks and balances that were established by the Founders to rein in any instances of a power grab by any one of the three branches of government, or as now seems to be the case, foreign powers, seem to have disappeared and have become absent any lasting effect.
As for the mystery surrounding the idea of democracy as defined by Democrats, this current election cycle has provided some insight as to why the Democrats get so jacked about the threat, as perceived by them, to their democracy. Ironically, they have no understanding that the real threats are, and always have been TO the Republic, and the threats are FROM the Democrats and their democracy. This was clearly stated by many of the Founders, and was a well-recognized fact by the huge majority of the Founders.
The “New” Democracy
After painfully listening to some of the Democrat political ads wherein nearly every speaker mentions the threats to democracy, they almost immediately are followed by the threats to their abortion rights. Since the Democratic Party has no accomplishments in the “pro” column upon which to convince voters they have solutions to the problems plaguing this nation, they now must openly flaunt the number one accomplishment in their ”con” column. They use the perceived threat of an abortion ban by the bad orange man, to scare gullible and easily manipulated women into a frenzy. The threat to democracy they scream about comes across more as a threat to their chosen loose way of life, characterized by having unprotected sex which, when it results in an unwanted pregnancy, can only be sustained by eliminating any and all threats to their desired immoral lifestyle, and that means allowing them to continue in their sin and simply go on eliminating the results of that sin via a murderous act of abortion.
It seems to be that the “new democracy” envisioned by the Democratic Party is less about having a tool to use for political clout in a difficult election campaign season and more about having a shield to be used as a cover for the sins which can be hidden behind it. If enough gullible people, including semi-blind Christians, can be convinced that a woman has the “right” to destroy the life of an unborn child because the birth of the child would be an inconvenience, then the redefining of democracy could succeed as a means of “winking” at the lifestyle that produced the unwanted child, as well as providing protection for what they perceive as the “right” to kill the unwanted child. If successful, those who are willing to condone the murder of a child for the sake of convenience can easily take the next step and begin condoning any deviation from God’s law.
If left unchecked, this “new democracy” will present the same situation that existed in the time of Noah: “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them” (Genesis 6:5-7). Thankfully, God found, in Noah, a righteous man through whom he would regenerate the race of man on the Earth. His mercy allowed the plan He originally conceived to continue based on His love for man. Are we at a point in time when lines are being drawn that will bring again the anger of God to a point where His wrath at man’s wickedness will erupt?
If you are a person who feels that Donald Trump is a threat to your idea of a new democracy, wherein having a living child in the womb is a hindrance to your personal freedom, and if your personal value system demands that you MUST have abortion as an option to remain single and unfettered with a child, perhaps you should reconsider your personal values.
In an earlier sentence, I mentioned that the Democratic party has introduced a new meaning of democracy, totally alien to the actual dictionary meaning. No longer the party of the little guy, the Democratic Party is now the group that decided there is no longer any value in the Rule of Law based on our Constitution, a document that provides the basis of law that affirms our right to LIFE, LIBERTY and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. No, they now define democracy as a process whereby they alone may determine what is right and what is wrong based not on any accepted standard of ethics or morals, but on their own desire to live outside any laws, especially those received from Almighty God.
They may believe themselves to be far superior to any who disagree with them, but they may soon find themselves facing, not an attorney or prosecutor accusing them of breaking man’s law with threats of punishment, but the true authority who has the right to judge those who do not respect Him and that law that He gave to man for his own benefit. I pray that the blindness of those who see the new democracy as a means to continue in their sin be removed and that true light be allowed to enter.
Blessings and Maranatha!
