PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
May 16, 2025
Dear Heritage Family and Friends,
In his sermon entitled, “The Name Above Every Name,” Dr. R.G. Lee spoke of the sovereign authority of Jesus’ name. As only Lee could preach it:
· “When the names of earth’s benefactors are no more remembered, when the achievements of science are no longer of value, when the guesses of philosophers are seen to be in vain, when time shall be no more — multitudes, in praise of Him in gratitude for salvation through His name, will still sing the song of Moses, and of the Lamb of enduring name.”
· When the Caesars and Charlemagne, the Napoleons and Wellingtons and their so-called victories are forgotten, the multitudinous trophies of His saving power, in enjoyment of His endless fruits of His blood-bought victories, will sing the praises of His peerless name.”
· “There never was a name like the name of Jesus — so representative of sacrificial love at its best. And someday, ‘every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord — to the glory of God the Father.'”
We will explain this further in our Sunday morning sermon: “The Lordship of Jesus Christ.”

THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT
May 17, 2025
My Fellow Watchmen,
“Mind the gap” is an audible warning issued to rail passengers to take caution while crossing the horizontal and, in some cases, vertical spatial gap between the train’s doorway and the train station’s platform. The phrase was first introduced in 1968 on the London Underground in the United Kingdom. It is popularly associated with the UK among tourists because of the particularly British word choice. This meaning of the verb “mind” has largely fallen into disuse in American English, where “watch your step” is more commonly used.
Like many of you, my parents used the word ‘mind’ to guide my behavior – ‘mind your manners,’ ‘mind your elders,’ or in some cases, ‘mind your own business!’ These were not just words, but verbal lessons in respect, politeness, and adapting our behavior to fit in with others. They taught us to ‘mind’ them, and in doing so, they taught us to be considerate of others.
Beloved, it is time for parents to restore the ‘verbal’ use of the word ‘mind!’ When children learn to ‘mind,’ they realize the world doesn’t revolve around them – that they must adapt their behavior to respect those in authority and fit in with others. How many of us have endured a child’s misbehavior in the next booth at a restaurant, or in the seat behind us on the airplane, or in a worship service? I don’t blame the children; I blame the parents for not teaching their children to ‘mind’ their manners.
As parents, we have the responsibility to shape our children’s behavior and influence their respect for others. When children learn to ‘mind,’ they are more likely to follow the rules established for their safety, they are more likely to value the views and opinions of others, and they are more likely to listen to their teachers, including those in the preschool/children’s Sunday School classes, and even the pastor.
When children are attentive and obedient to their parents and respectful of their leaders on earth, they are more likely to be attentive and obedient to their Heavenly Father.
Please forward these news reports to those you think might be interested.
