THE EPSTEIN FILES: WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Bud Hancock brings his enquiring engineers mind to bear on this topical question. This murky story reaching from Royalty downwards, is consuming the world’s media, threatening to expose many high profile people, as being complicit in a ring of vice not seen publicly since the days when John Profumo and Christine Keeler brought down the British Government of Harold MacMillan in the early 1960’s.

The Epstein Files: Why Does It Matter?
By Bud Hancock
Just when it seemed the hullabaloo over the Jeffrey Epstein child predator case and the controversy surrounding his alleged nefarious sexual activities with underaged children was finally waning, suddenly it is now back in the news, possibly in a larger way than before.
The current situation occurred when the US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, the highest ranking LEO in the US, stated that after all the research done by the DOJ and the FBI, there is no evidence that Epstein was involved in blackmail that would have been based on his ability to provide material that could incriminate his “clients” who might have been recorded engaging in the illicit sexual exploitation of many children. Further, the infamous “client list” that Bondi previously stated was “on her desk” awaiting DOJ review, actually now does not exist, according to Bondi.

PAM BONDI
So what is really going on with this story and why is there such an uproar about it? After all, Epstein is now dead, having “allegedly” hanged himself in his jail cell in 2019, at least according to the DOJ. But in a case where accusations of Epstein having supplied many high profile “clients” with underaged girls (and possibly boys?) for illicit sexual activity, the chances of one, or more, of these clients finding a way to squelch any evidence of their alleged complicity in the crimes charged, must be at least considered. But, in spite of all the rumors of Epstein being silenced, the DOJ now seems convinced that he was NOT murdered but did indeed commit suicide by hanging using bedsheets in his cell.
POTUS Trump, who was recently questioned by a reporter on the status of the Epstein Files, responded angrily by asking why reporters are still talking about Epstein, who he described as “this creep”. I doubt anyone with any sense of morality, after reading the accusations of many alleged victims who claimed they were raped and sexually abused in various ways by the so-called “clients of Epstein”, would argue about Trump’s description of Epstein as a creep.
But, based on the horrendous nature of the crimes with which Epstein was charged, and the fact that, other than the suspicious death of Epstein, no justice has actually been achieved for anyone in the case, I must disagree with Trump in his assessment of the media’s coverage. It may not still be current news, but it also is definitely NOT “fake news”, as Trump so often has accused the media of publishing. The abuse of children, sexual or otherwise, by adult men and women is a thoroughly despicable crime that, when proven, should be dealt with harshly, and quickly. Currently, there are many voices, coming from ALL sides, demanding transparency and expecting answers to the questions like the one the reporter asked Trump, which if answered honestly and without subterfuge, will provide that transparency. I have heard it stated that because Epstein is now dead, justice in his case has been served, and the words of Trump echo that sentiment. But how is that even a remote possibility?

Justice takes two very different forms in our society: criminal justice and civil justice. In criminal justice a person who is accused of a crime, and who is convicted of the crime, must pay a debt to “society” based on the effects his or her crime might have on our society. That debt is usually measured as a specified amount of time the convicted person must spend locked up and kept away from society. However, in civil justice, a defendant is usually the subject of a lawsuit for a wrongdoing that caused an individual, most often the plaintiff, to suffer some harm, and if the defendant in a civil suit is found liable, the plaintiff is usually awarded some monetary compensation to make them whole for their suffering. In the Epstein case, and with all the money his estate must have, I doubt that any monetary recompense has yet been given to any of the victims of the alleged abuse. The victims’ suffering, as bad as it must have been during the time of the abuse, is the kind that can totally destroy a child and render his or her future bleak indeed, with a bruised, if not destroyed, psyche and the inability to ever place any trust in another human being.
Based on the information made public in the Epstein case, it is easy to understand why the case, along with any pertinent information connected to it, including all the criminal investigation notes and evidence, is regarded as extremely important to all persons and their families who were harmed by Epstein’s actions.
But, for the average citizen, the whole of our society that was not directly affected by the case, does the whole sordid affair even matter, and if so, why? I am unaware of a count of the number of people involved in the case, including those accused and those who were abused, but compared to the nearly 347 million US citizens, whatever the count is, it is infinitesimal. So, is Trump wrong to denigrate ANY citizen who continues to ask why they are even talking about Epstein? In my humble opinion, yes, definitely YES, he is wrong!
Every law-abiding American citizen deserves, in fact is guaranteed, the right to expect truth and transparency in all matters that involve criminal activity, whether on a local, state or federal level, from our government, and especially from the agency that deals directly with the subject: The Department of Justice. As this voice of outrage directed at the DOJ grows, it appears unlikely that the voices will be silenced; in fact, I would bet that the more Trump displays his anger at those questioning him or his Attorney General, the louder those questioning voices will become.

So, after all this, why does, or even should, this case/issue matter to everyone in this country? Firstly, even though it now is very questionable, this nation was founded on the Judeo-Christian principles and a system of laws that were a model of God’s Law given to the Jewish people. In that law, and the many places in scripture wherein God emphasizes that He “loves justice”, if this nation is ever to return to its former status as a Christian nation, there can be no instances allowed that contradict the importance of providing that justice, in complete transparency, in every criminal and civil matter brought before a court. If that justice is denied, then no American can have any REAL confidence in the entire government that causes, or even allows, justice to be denied. What we are seeing unfold based on the recent DOJ decisions re Epstein, could amount to a total collapse of the very foundation of this nation.
The link provided here is from a RealClear Politics article dated July 10, 2025, wherein conservative commentator, military historian and geopolitical analyst, Victor Davis Hanson, laid out his analysis of the recent decisions regarding the “nonexistent” (according to the DOJ) Epstein files:

There are several other interesting commentaries linked in the article. After watching them, I remember discussing them with my wife and wondering how a college dropout like Jeffrey Epstein, a man with few recognizable skills, could amass a large fortune; after all, the kind of wealth he accumulated with no obvious means of getting it, smacks of the result of a liaison with a world-wide intelligence agency, known for buying any kind of potentially useful “spy” information along with the persons selling such info. My further belief beyond what VDH stated is that Epstein might be a fabricated entity, recruited, trained and financed by any one of the multiple intelligence agencies who then used him to provide salacious material which, when used properly, could topple high level business people, recognizable world leaders or whole regimes. After all, that is what the CIA, the illustrious US intelligence agency, has done for decades.
If the CIA actually has that power, then no one in government anywhere is above suspicion when the question of the files being kept secret is asked. Will we ever get any answers? Doubtful, especially if a large number of powerful people are truly on the “nonexistent” list.
Democratic US Senator Chuck Schumer stated on a Rachel Maddow MSNBC news program in January 2017, that crossing intel officials is a dangerous undertaking since the intelligence community have “six ways from Sunday at getting back at you”:
I knows this from personal experience, or was he just speculating? Just saying……
But, from my perspective, the real importance of the Epstein files and the entire case involving his immoral, salacious, evil and illegal trafficking of young children for sexual abuse by adults is the effect it has already had, and the effect it will continue to have, on the future of our nation. We are seeing a large backlash from the MAGA base that elected Trump last November, and that backlash has the potential to endanger the outcome of the midterm election in November 2026. Whether that endangerment actually materializes or not, that possibility should concern the GOP and all conservative American citizens.
I’m sure that unbelievers will pooh-pooh what I am about to say, but the most critical concern is not the DOJ and FBI involvement in the case, or whether a coverup is happening concerning the files that may or may not exist.
These are the issues that have Conservative backers of Trump now enraged: that they may have been lied to; but we all, especially Christians, should be most concerned about how the Lord God Almighty views the issue.
We know from scripture that the days will become darker and more evil the closer we get to the return of Jesus Christ for His Body, the Church. The Body of Christ, was given a charge just before Jesus Christ was taken up into heaven in the sight of His disciples:
“And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” Mark 16:15-16.
Regardless of what evil men, whether politicians, businessmen or college professors may do or say, the Church is to be a light that shines forth into and through the darkness. It speaks volumes that the voice and the body of the Church has obviously NOT been following the commandment given to the early disciples, or they would have had more effect on those men and women elected to represent us all in our Congress and the White House.
The Psalmist wrote these words and they are eternally recorded in the Bible and in Heaven:
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).
Please notice that he used the word “nation”, not an individual, indicating that the words given to him by the Holy Spirit were intended to address an entire nation. This scripture provides the foundation for “a nation” to expect blessings from Him. On the other hand, can we assume that, since God has such strong feelings about a nation claiming Him as its “Lord”, the opposite might be true, meaning that the nation who refuses to claim God as its Lord should expect to be cursed? I’ll leave that to the reader, but I have no doubt that when a nation has been considered “Christian” for more than two hundred years, then pivots to a status indicating it is more in line with Satan’s agenda, God might NOT be too thrilled with that nation’s decision, and should He choose to act on His dissatisfaction, a curse could easily be in the offing.
Consider for a brief moment, the horrible weather that has been hammering the heartland of the United States, leaving entire cities devastated and hundreds dead with hundreds more still missing. Does this sound like a nation that is blessed? When one subject like the Epstein Files generates outrage from a large segment of the base which supported Donald Trump for POTUS in 2024, demanding a fulfillment of his promise of total transparency, I would say that the leader of our nation has a very big problem. And for that leader to publicly state his anger toward that base, calling them “weaklings” and insisting he no needs or wants their support, he is likely to get a huge surprise in the midterm elections with that bunch of questioning weaklings turning many GOP representatives out of office, and further sending this nation into a Democratic-controlled land of chaos.

In the Bible, God often related His actions to a nation based on the actions of that nation’s leaders. That tells me that the leaders truly do represent the nation in God’s eyes, making the entire nation somewhat responsible for their leaders’ actions. That scenario is exactly what concerns me. I know that Trump has touted the accomplishments of his administration in the first six months of the term, but the midterms are looming large and campaign season will be upon us in a very short time. With Trump casting his most ardent supporters to the curb, calling them “bad people”, “foolish”, “stupid” and “weaklings” for questioning anyone in his “perfect administration” (Trump’s words, not mine), he may regret using such rhetoric to describe the very people who are responsible for him residing in our White House.
If, as I earlier alluded to, God can as easily curse a nation as bless one, Trump might want to reconsider his words and understand that if, based on the “non-support” of his dedicated “weaklings” he could be held totally responsible for the loss of both the House and the Senate in the midterm elections.
How would that constitute a curse? Consider that, with two more years left in Trump’s final term as POTUS, a Democrat-controlled Congress would make it nearly impossible for him to accomplish anything new in that last two years, making him a lame duck, failed POTUS with a legacy based more on his massive ego, pride and narcissistic behavior than any accomplishments he might be credited with.
However, for me, the greatest concern of an overturned Congress would be the utter chaos that would ensue in this nation, and by extension, the world. The United States could quickly descend into a financial collapse that would make the Great Depression of 1929 seem like a Sunday School picnic; and such a collapse would be much more than simply financial, it would create a cultural and moral vacuum that would have the ability to totally destroy everything good that this great nation ever stood for.
What are the chances that such a scenario will appear? I have no answer to that, but I sense that God is nearly done playing games and “winking” at man’s foolishness and evil nature. We are approaching the time when entire nations could change and/or vanish overnight. With Trump being the leader of this nation, his words and actions speak, to some extent, for every person calling himself or herself an American. God will keep and protect them that are His through any occurrence, but every other person should be trembling right now because their future is definitely not certain.
I pray, as should every Christian that a mighty revival will begin in the House of God and spread to every home in this country, since that is likely the only action standing between a continuing United States of America and a smoldering ash heap of despair.
To conclude, the Epstein files may matter little to individuals other than those who were harmed by that monster, but the lack of “justice for all” in his case should definitely arouse a sense of outrage, demanding from the US government, more transparency and REAL answers from ALL those, from Trump to the DOJ, FBI and any other agency involved, who are responsible for obeying the law and providing the justice that now seems so fleeting.
Blessings and Maranatha!
