The picture of the prodigal son running into the arms of his father should bring tears to our eyes, for that is the perfect picture of our salvation. We were reconciled to God, our Heavenly Father, by our expressed faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. The Gospel message is cheapened with a lesser purpose – i.e., “believe in Jesus Christ, and you will go to heaven when you die!”

In 2 Corinthians 5:20, the Apostle Paul told those who had received Christ as their Savior, having been reconciled with God, they had been given the ministry of reconciliation. He urged them to go and plead with those who were lost, to see what God had done for them through Jesus Christ, and to receive Him as their Savior and Lord, so they could be reconciled with God! Do you know God as your Heavenly Father? Beloved, a lesser goal offers no assurance of heaven at all!
