PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
Dear Heritage Family,
Our hearts are broken regarding the gruesome murder of Davy and Natalie Lloyd, who were full-time missionaries in Haiti. Certainly, their parents, relatives, and friends are stunned by the senseless slaughter of these two young people who had dedicated their lives to show God’s love to a few of the disadvantaged children in Haiti – but such a risk is part of the call to missions.
On the other hand, our hearts are encouraged by Harrison Butker’s bold stand, given the caustic criticism he has received from the “woke” culture crowd for his pro-marriage, pro-family, and pro-life positions. In response to their disbelief that a major football player would have such outdated, conservative Christian values, Butker said, “I lean on those closest to me for guidance. But I can never forget that it is not people but Jesus Christ who I am trying to please.”
Beloved, the Apostle Peter said, every Christian has been called to endure such suffering, even martyrdom. In fact, Peter said our response to suffering and persecution reveals the authenticity of our relationship with Christ. So, when such opportunities arise in our lives, we are to “Rejoice, so that the genuineness of our faith—more valuable than gold, which perishes though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Pet. 1:6–7 HCSB).
The title of this sermon series is “How Should We Then Live?” We aim to reveal what the Scriptures define as an “Authentic Christian.” In this sermon, we continue to look at the scriptures that give us “The Assurance of Our Salvation.”

PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
My Fellow Watchmen,
Six years ago, I was privileged to be the main speaker at the annual Prophetic Witness Movement International gathering in Bournemouth, England. During the afternoon breaks, Linda and I were escorted on a tour of the area, and we were shocked to see the entrance of so many churches, cathedrals, and houses of worship blatantly flying the rainbow flag. This week, the Episcopal Church in America unveiled its new PRIDE SHIELD to celebrate and affirm its LGBTQ+ MEMBERS.
“As a longtime ally of LGBTQ+ people, I was so excited to work on this Pride shield for The Episcopal Church,” said Melissa Walker, senior graphic designer. “I hope many more people feel seen and included by this new graphic as we enter Pride month.”
Unfortunately, this is a harbinger of the future for the evangelical church in America, for unless there is a sobering, spiritual awakening soon, every major Christian denomination in America will soon be redesigning their logos and flying the rainbow flags as more and more Christians are feeling the pressure to support the LBGT agenda, or at least not oppose it.
First of all, according to Revelation 2:14, Jesus had some very harsh words of rebuke for the church at Pergamum, for their pastors were teaching the people that it was acceptable for Christians to participate in the pagan festivals and idolatrous ceremonies that included sexual immorality – i.e., to compromise their convictions to “fit in” with the culture.
Secondly, in 1 Peter 4:3, the Apostle did not mince words when he said Christians had spent enough time doing the will of the Gentiles – “living in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.” And yes, they will speak evil of you for not participating in the same flood of dissipation, but you must remember to whom you will give account!
Pride month is NOT something CHRISTIANS can celebrate in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Yes, we are to love our neighbors, regardless of their sins. That does not mean we must affirm their sinful behavior, but rather, we are to speak the TRUTH IN LOVE. Christians MUST take a stand and be ready to give the reason why. For example, “I cannot participate in your celebration because it goes against God’s Word regarding God’s plan and purpose for human sexuality.” Then, if they ask what the Bible says about it, be ready to show them. However, in any case, stand firm in your convictions, but stand in love.
