SPRINGS
Isaiah chapter 35 :6-7 has this message:
“Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow”
The Lord had just delivered Israel from Egypt by the Passover lamb and miraculously opened the Red Sea
However the country just ahead was desert and it was not long before they complained that they should have stayed as slaves in Egypt rather than dying in the desert of starvation and thirst. God then sent them manna as daily food and opened the rock to give them water.
God commanded that Israel should keep the time of that first Passover as the beginning of a new year and a new life (Exodus 12:2) even as when we are born again we start a new life and leave our old life (figuratively Egypt) behind. We have just celebrated Easter as a reminder of this.
God knows that at times in that new life we will find ourselves in desert places but He promises that at those times He will not necessarily take us out of the problems but will keep us and strengthen us in them..
His Word is full of promises that cover any situation we may encounter..
- the promise of SECURITY, that although we don’t know what will happen tomorrow, next week or next month, God promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. Never doubt or worry about the future because His resources are limitless. BUT- you have to ask in Jesus’ name and trust Him. Then you can relax knowing He WILL provide.
- The promise of SUPPORT, of God’s help in times of difficulty. God says “My presence shall go with you and I will give you rest” You may not be able to see Him but be assured He will always be beside you and make sure you are never overwhelmed.
- the promise of GUIDANCE, God promises to show us the right things to do every step of the way. You will hear a voice behind you saying “this is the way, walk in it. “ When in doubt study His Word and listen for His answer. We would all like Him to shout it but often we have to seek His presence and listen carefully because the answer is not always what we may expect or even want.
- the promise of HIS PRESENCE. Isaiah’s great Christmas message was: Emmanuel – God with us. “I am with you always,” said Jesus, “to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28: 20).
Believe them for yourself, and let them transform your desert.
Ask Jesus to pour His living water into your life
