SPEED YOUR JOURNEY
if you feel a bit down cast I thoroughly recommend listening to this wonderful anthem by Verdi. Mrs Chugley and I like to play it at full volume before breakfast to ensure a positive start to the day.
The History of this work is very interesting. Speed your journey is a song for the chorus in the opera Nabucco, composed in 1842 by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901). The title is taken from the first three words of the customary English translation. “Va, pensiero” (Italian: [ˈva penˈsjɛːro]), also known as the “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves”, is a chorus from the opera Nabucco (1842) by Giuseppe Verdi. It recollects the period of Babylonian captivity after the destruction of Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem in 586 BC.
No excuse for being downcast, God is in control.
Gibber! Gibber!
