PROMISES PROMISES, SO MANY PROMISES
Thank you Bud for another insightful article about politicians. These observations are just as relevant to our politicians here, in Australia. As I often say, if America collapses, so does Australia. Your hope is in the Lord who is in control.

Promises, Promises, So Many Promises
By Bud Hancock
“For those looking for security, be forewarned that there’s nothing more insecure than a political promise” ~ Harry Browne
I have followed, rather closely for the past three decades, U.S. presidential campaigns and the ensuing administrations of those elected POTUS, having listened to numerus POTUS “hopefuls” deliver campaign promises, intended to persuade potential voters to push the lever by their names. During those campaign seasons an unimaginable number of campaign promises are made, and some of them are truly “unbelievable”.
I never considered whether those promises were successful in getting a candidate elected. Campaign promises made that are outside the purview of the requirements provided in the U.S. Constitution, have little actual value to the Patriotic American citizen, who only wants to receive from the successful candidate, his or her follow-through on fulfilling their Constitutional obligations. Though many voters will be persuaded by the promises they hear, it seems unlikely the average voter will actually believe these promises were made with the intent that they will be kept.
They become the political propaganda of every political campaign that seeks to place into the minds of voters, ideas based on the “Party Platform” or current ideology decided by the political bigwigs who operate deep behind the political curtains. And some of the ideas are preposterous from the get-go. They are NOT the same as the promises the candidates throw out in such blasé fashion. The purpose of the promises is to get voters to place the candidates in office so they can follow through on establishing their Party’s ideology. This is true of both the Democratic and Republican Parties.
No candidate should ever make promises that are outside the possibility of any authority granted to him by our Constitution. Hopefully, many voters are now becoming aware that both the political ideas and the promises made ARE preposterous, and dump them as such in File 13. But some of these promises, the less preposterous ones, once in a great while, actually strike a chord with the voters, and that chord resonates so completely that they begin to experience some hope of actually seeing them kept.
Every decent, honest, ethical person who makes promises must understand something: keeping those promises can easily be, and usually are, accompanied by problems. For every promise made by a good politician (a rarity), there will be any number of indecent, dishonest and unethical people who will do whatever is necessary to ensure that the promises made by the good guys, are never kept. Impediments, hindrances, roadblocks and deterrents of every sort, some of them overt but most of them subversive, some legal but most illegal (and unpunished), will always show up at the worst time for the promise-maker.
Such is the norm in politics.
The person elected to be the POTUS is, whether he likes it or not, a politician and in all my years of following presidential campaigns and the resulting administrations, it seems the people who make the promises are seldom the ones affected when the promises are not kept. Oh, it may change their possibilities of winning public office in the future, but that is likely the greatest effect they will ever feel from their unkept promises. Those who placed their hopes on the promises made will likely feel the most effect, whether in the financial area of their lives or possibly the physical security of themselves and their families.
Politics being what it is, a series of behind the scenes, mostly underhanded maneuvers, machinations and strategies used to gain and/or maintain power and control, the promise-maker should be aware that keeping his promises will NOT be easy, especially given the nature of the DC swamp. Those who live in and around that political swamp, just as those critters that inhabit a real swamp, have absolutely no problem eliminating the ones trying to change their swamp. Anything or anyone that rocks the swamp boat, anything that threatens the “control status” of the swamp, is considered by the swamp-dwellers to be fair game, and they will not hesitate to use every weapon at their disposal to maintain control of their swamp.
The most important, and totally relevant, question that one should be considering at this particular moment in time is: Just how far will those who oppose the keeping of the promises made by an elected president go in making sure the promises are NEVER kept?
An example that always comes to mind is the promises made by POTUS John F. Kennedy, when he stated that he wanted to dismantle the Intelligence Community in 1963; Seven days before he was assassinated, Kennedy stated: “There’s a plot in this country to enslave every man, woman and child. Before I leave this high and noble office, I intend to expose this plot”. Kennedy publicly indicated that he fully understood how corrupt U.S. Intelligence agencies, specifically the CIA, had become. From articles and books I have read, he and Bobby Kennedy, his Attorney General and brother, were adamant about making sure the agency would never again be able to subvert governments, stage coups and undermine the duly elected leaders of, not only the foreign regimes they wanted to change, but the United States government as well.
The question above, “how far will they go”, if asked in the situation of JFK’s promise, could be answered this way: Simply look at what happened in Dealy Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. On that day, it became quite apparent to the whole world, to what extent the “promise-blockers” would go to ensure certain political promises are not kept.
Now, sixty-one years after the assassination of JFK, we are in a situation, with the recent election of the 47th POTUS, Donald J. Trump, that JFK was in when his fate was being determined behind those closed doors. At that time, a nuclear arms race had been ongoing for many years since the end of WW2, with the United States and the Soviet Union conducting a cold war, each jockeying for supremacy in the area of nuclear weapons. There had already been a close call that might have escalated into a full-blown nuclear confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union, namely the placing of Soviet nuclear weapons in Cuba, a mere 90 miles from the southern border of our country.
JFK stared down the Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev, demanding the removal of the offensive nuclear weapons from our southern neighbor. At that time, I believe the Soviets understood that JFK would not back down on his demands and, thankfully, the Soviet premier blinked first and the confrontation ended when the Soviets withdrew their weapons and went home.
Now however, the roles are reversed and the former Soviet Union, now simply the Russian Federation, is seeing what they perceive to be a possible intrusion of foreign militaries with their nuclear weapons sitting on the western border of the sovereign nation of Russia. Just as JFK did in 1963 in the Cuba situation, the current Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has loudly demanded that the NATO nations NOT place their nuclear missiles on the Russian doorstep. Ukraine being the nation sitting just west of Russia, and being controlled by a Western-backed puppet, has been lobbying to become a member of NATO since the conflict with Ukraine began nearly three years ago.
NATO membership for Ukraine would easily bring the nukes of most of the members of the NATO alliance right up to the borders of Russia and Putin will never allow that to happen. Just as JFK was adamant that the Soviet nukes be dismantled and removed from Cuba, and his determination to “not blink” was taken seriously by the Soviet leaders, the same stance by the Russian President should be taken seriously by all those in the West.
With the known horrors unleashed as the result of two small nuclear devices, each having the equivalent explosive power of approximately 20,000 tons of TNT, detonated over the nation of Japan, ending WW2, everyone should understand just how much more horrific would be a confrontation with Russia, with a nuclear arsenal greater than any other nation on Earth. The current advanced nukes of the major nuclear powers are no longer measured in thousands of tons of TNT, but in the multiple millions of tons of TNT, deliverable with missiles capable of carrying up to ten warheads, having the capability of totally destroying all life on Earth.
Any rational person in any position of power on this planet would see what the situation is and would immediately back away from any such disastrous confrontation. But we are not seeing many rational people in those positions at this time. I do believe that newly elected POTUS Trump is such a rational person who has every intention of solving the Russia-Ukraine war without seeing any nukes used by either side. However, JFK was a rational POTUS who simply wanted to dismantle a rogue, out of control intelligence agency and he ended up dead. The main “confrontation” that was occurring when Kennedy was murdered, was not nuclear; it was the possibility of a dangerous, protracted war between North and South Vietnam. JFK was adamant about keeping the United States out of that mess, but the IC and the Industrial Military Complex had other ideas. War in any form is always ugly and destructive but it is also BIG business that brings in billions of dollars to the corporations providing the weapons and ammunition needed to fight the war. The main issue, the one that was at the heart of the Kennedy assassination, was the money that would be gained as a result of engaging in an as yet non-existent Asian war in Vietnam.
Now, the current issue can be summed up thusly: President-elect Trump has promised to end the war between Ukraine and Russia very quickly once he is in office on January 20, 2025. If Trump were be to accomplish such a feat, thereby fulfilling his promise to end the war quickly, it would be a serious blow to the political warmongers who are beholden to the Industrial Military Complex, that unholy entity that cares little to nothing for human life, only for how much they gain from starting new wars, or keeping current wars going. For them, the loss of human life that would ensue from even a small nuclear conflict is not even a consideration: It as all about the money.
So we are now back to the important question asked earlier: “Just how far will those who oppose the keeping of the promises made by an elected president go in making sure the promises are NEVER kept”?
That question might be answered by the news that outgoing POTUS Biden gave his approval for Ukraine to use long-range U.S. weapons known as ATACMS (Army TACtical Missile System) to attack well inside Russia’s borders. At this time, at least six of those missiles have been fired into Russia along with twice that many comparable missiles supplied to Ukraine by the Brits. And most recently, the US and some Nato allies are even considering the unthinkable: arming the Ukrainians with nuclear weapons intended to be used against Russia.
Putin has already lowered the threshold he considers his red line for using Russian nukes in retaliation against those nations that do what the US and the British just did. The missiles would never have been used had Trump been in office, but there remains nearly two months until his inauguration, so the answer to that all-important question seems to be quite obvious: Those in the current administration who despise Trump and have nor love for the people of this nation have let it be known to what extent they will go to stop trump‘s promises from being kept: They will risk an open-ended nuclear confrontation with the greatest nuclear power on Earth, a confrontation that could easily kill millions of people from multiple nations, just to unsure that peace is kept at bay while they retain their political and financial power over the masses.
Another example of a campaign promise just made is securing the borders of our nation against ANY illegal entry for ANY purpose. In the Constitution, Article IV, Section 4 states that “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion…” and that wording is stated simply enough for any fourth grader to easily understand. That statement simply means that, it is a LAW that the government MUST fulfill that promise. Again, in the Constitution, Article II, Section 3, states that the President of the United States is the senior law enforcement official in the country. It asserts that “he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed”. Again, the wording is very simple and obligates the POTUS, the senior law enforcement officer of the United States to make sure the law is “faithfully executed”. His vow to uphold the Constitution negates the need to promise, separately, to do what the Constitution clearly obligates him to do.
And we can easily see to what extent Trump’s opposition, both the socialist/Marxists and the RINOs will go to ensure that the southern border is never fully secured. The millions of illegal INVADERS, lured here with the promise of “free stuff” are easily converted into lifelong Democrat voters. The “behind the scenes” puppet masters in the Intelligence Community care nothing for the people who already have been killed and those who will be in the future at the hands of the INVADERS. Their actions prove their character.
After all, no sane, rational and reasonable person would ever consider doing what Biden, obviously at the bidding of his globalist masters, has just done, poking the Bear and hoping for a violent reaction, not would such a person ever allow millions of illegal INVADERS to come in and set up their criminal enterprises in our nation.
The duties of every elected official in the U.S. government are clearly defined and should be easily understood by voters, (if they ever undertook to read the Constitution). Our Founding Fathers, most of whom were much more intelligent than the majority of all politicians today, wanted to eliminate any confusion as to what was expected of those seeking high public office in the new government.
When a person is sworn in as an official of the U.S. government, He swears to faithfully uphold and defend the Constitution, thereby obligating him to not only obey, but execute, the laws that are made to protect and serve the citizens of this nation.
So, based on the info above, why is there any need to provide multiple campaign promises when running for office? The citizens of this nation have the right to expect that any person running for POTUS will obey the Constitution without making a hundred additional promises in the hope that flooding the minds of voters with them will help to ensure his (or her) election.
Unfortunately, it seems that many voters are following the candidates, eagerly listening for the “best promises” that might provide them something special, something that the Constitution does NOT provide and usually something to which they have no right.
In light of what we are witnessing unfolding in this increasingly insane world, what is the likelihood that Trump’s promises of ending not only the Russia/Ukraine War, but all the conflicts in the Middle East, will be kept? I feel quite certain that he will do whatever he thinks is necessary to keep them, but he is now, just as he was in his first term, up against some very nasty enemies, and I only hope that, as is his reputation for playing “four dimension chess”, he has not forgotten whatever “chess moves” he might need to stop those enemies in their tracks. The most disturbing thing I see, if his promises are not kept, is that the World will become embroiled in a nuclear holocaust that will leave hundreds of millions, possibly billions of human beings dead or, even worse, alive and living with the results of radiation poisoning, and a world nearly destroyed. Even for the victor of such a confrontation, there is no good outcome.
If the promises made by Trump fail to materialize, they will become nothing more than the memories of a POTUS who promised something that he was unable to deliver. Making the promises and not being able to keep them will not be his biggest failure, but underestimating the evil commitment of his swamp enemies will be.
Let us hope and pray that, with God’s guidance and direction and divine help, the promises made by President-elect Trump will be kept, otherwise, the unthinkable will be his legacy.
Maranatha and Blessings!

All true Bud! Thanks for another perfect overview. Sad as it is, far too many hardcore Stalinists are in the Democrat Party. The Republicans aren’t far behind with their slow Marxism a la Leon Trotsky, that’s why they never fight the Dems.
We are to pray for our leaders, so that will continue, but the real problem in this country is the fact that America has turned her back on our Creator. We need to repent and turn back to Him.
Thank you Kelleigh! Bud is much appreciated by my readers. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
