Dear Church and friends,

Please forgive me if my frustration is showing a little but I have to say that Scott Morrison was definitely not my favourite prime minister.

COVID ERA IGNORANCE

During the Covid era Mr Morrison showed that he had absolutely zero understanding of God’s command to Christians that they should not forsake gathering together (Heb 10:25).

For one claiming to be a Christian, he should have understood this and protected our right to do so instead of granting it to Dan Murphy’s and Bunnings while deeming Christian worship as “non essential”.

He should have also understood the importance of the dictates of our conscience before God (Rom 14) relative to the injections, but he allowed that to be trampled on as well.

He talks about “home grown radicalisation”, as if it is something that can be dealt with by singing a few rounds of “I am, you are, we are Australian.”

Mr Morrison, like so many other “talking heads” misses the point . There is no “radical islam” or “moderate islam” – there is just islam. It is an ideology that is antisemetic and antichristian and to think otherwise is not to understand what is clearly written in every quran and the hadiths.

Now, in his recent speech he shows that he also has absolutely zero understanding of the quranic commands to those under islamic ideology.

You cannot “Australianise” islam. Islam is islam regardless of where in the world it exists, the ideology has remained unchanged since its inception and will remain so. The issue is what is contained within the covers of the quran and the hadiths and that cannot be modified to assimilate with other cultures. Our political leaders seem to be blind to this – wilfully or not, the result is the same – blind leaders, going around in circles, achieving nothing while the real issues are not addressed.

MODERN CONSPIRACY THEORIES

In a most bizarre way, Mr Morrison tried to connect the antisemitism found within the pages of the quran with modern conspiracy theories about Israel. What madness? This is not a new problem, it didn’t start in 1948. Islam has a 1,400 year track record of violence and atrocity springing from the literal interpretation and application of its verses and it is not only directed at Jews but also Christians and then every other “unbeliever”.

It is plain to see that wherever islamic ideology spreads the culture of jihad, violence and oppression (particularly of women) come with it. As islam’s strength within a population increases so do its demands. The ultimate goal has always been to create a global caliphate through the implementation of sharia law.

Mr. Morrison seems to think that registering imams and making them pass some kind of accreditation, then, having them form a self regulating body is going to somehow fix the problem. They are already “self regulated”, how is that working out? His suggestion is about as smart as giving a gun license to someone on an ASIO watchlist.

Even if his suggestions did have some merit, there is no way they will ever be implemented exclusively to Islam as they should be. Those on the loony left will insist that the same standards be enforced on everyone when not everyone is the problem.

A clear example of this are the ill conceived hate speech laws. To date, we have seen no hate preachers prosecuted or deported, just a suspected neo-Nazi and a man with a tattoo.

The politicians might slap each other on the back and congratulate one another on a job well done but the fact of the matter is that these “neo Nazis” are nothing but a pack of shameful bigots, playing dress ups. While they do present a threat to our Jewish friends, it is minor compared to the giant of islam and is akin to changing a stained tablecloth on the sinking Titanic and thinking that something has actually been achieved. What’s more, legislation already exists to deal with those nutjobs, it just isn’t being enforced. Our Jewish friends deserve far better than this.

THE NATURE OF THE BEAST.

Consider for a moment what happens in countries under sharia law.

Women are forced to cover up from head to toe, they are often denied the right to education, they cannot leave their homes unless in the immediate company of a male family member, they can be forced into marriages, given as child brides, be subjected to honour killings for non compliance, suffer stoning, beheading, canings, disfigurement by acid attack, genital mutilation and the list goes on. These are unspeakable violations of basic human rights but, strangely, we hear nothing from their liberated and empowered sisters in the western world who seem to be more concerned about so called toxic masculinity, man spreading, mansplaining, gender roles and the gender pay gap. Blindness in not exclusive to our politicians.

Further, homosexual people are executed, either thrown from buildings, stoned or hanged. They are hated, despised and put to death but again, not a word from the western LGBTQI+ community who quite frankly would not last five minutes in a sharia controlled area.

Finally, in these regimes there are no Jews, no Christians or any other minorities unless they are in deep hiding.

Who would want to live under the tyranny of such ideology?

IRAN, A REAL TIME EXAMPLE

Again, one only has to look at modern day Iran for a real time, living example of how all this works. When Islamic ideology reaches a place of strength it shows its true form.

Back in the 1970s the University of Tehran looked no different to any other university in western society. Women’s fashions were the same as we knew here and there was a degree of civilisation that truly reflected modern life.

Once the Shah was deposed and Ayatollah Kommani brought Iran under sharia law it went back to the dark ages. Right now, muslim people are rising up against the tyranny of islam and thousands of them are paying for it with their lives. Muslims killing Muslims (and not a murmur from the professional protestors over here). I have to ask what other religion on the face of the earth is guilty of such atrocities in this modern age?

AUSTRALIA’S ONLY HOPE

Ignoring the problem or dancing around the edges of it will never solve anything. Political doublespeak and ignorance as demonstrated by Mr Morrison only exacerbates matters while having the appearance of being pro active.

Our Jewish friends not only deserve to feel safe but to be safe from an ideology that seeks their absolute destruction. This matter is absolutely time critical for them but it will eventually be everyone’s problem as seen in England and parts of Europe.

Politics alone will never give us an absolute answer but prayer, repentance and faith in Jesus Christ will. I have said before that the problems we face in this nation are the result of us abandoning God in the post war era. In a sense, it is His judgement upon us for our rejection of Him and our subsequent decent, as a nation, into moral filth and depravity. There is only one way back and that is through seeking Him.

If we were to see a return to genuine faith in God through Jesus Christ and a genuine repentance from the heart perhaps this situation could be reversed. I cannot help but think of the biblical account of the great revival in Nineveh as detailed in the book of Jonah. God’s hand of judgement was lifted from that great city in an incredible and divine act of mercy that came from their repentance kindled by Jonah’s preaching.

From the King to the cattle every heart was brought low in the hope that God would relent from the judgement to come. Our prayer aught be that our politicians be stricken with such a genuine and holy fear of God, that our church leaders abandon their cowardice & hypocrisy and discharge their God given duty without compromise and that our fellow countrymen – regardless of heritage, accent or skin colour, find salvation at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, if there was hope for Nineveh – there is hope for Australia and it is to be found in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Bob Cotton has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal.

We know him as the man at Maitland Christian Church’s podium delivering sermons but Pastor Robert ‘Bob’ Cotton’s passion for advocating for the community runs much deeper.

In fact, it was his advocacy which saw a significant change that went all the way to NSW Parliament.

Today, the born and bred Maitland man has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to the community as an advocate for child protection legislation.

“I’m very honoured and humbled. I was totally surprised,” Pastor Cotton said on receiving his OAM.

It came after the local Maitland pastor spent countless hours visiting pubs and walking the streets with a clipboard in hand, petitioning for harsher punishment for those who conceal child sex abuse.

Speaking to Australian Community Media, Pastor Cotton reflects on the Royal Commission and the overturned case of the Archbishop Philip Wilson as the catalyst for his advocacy.

“At that point, no clergyman had ever been held to account for concealing child sex offences of his colleagues so something had to change. Every denomination was guilty,” he said.
