PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
March 17, 2023
Contrary to what is taught in evangelical churches today, there is no such thing as trusting Christ as Savior without at the same moment submitting to Him as Lord.
· Whereas the believer was once under the lordship of Satan, through saving faith he eagerly places himself under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
· Whereas he was once the enemy of God and the slave of sin, he is now the loyal subject of his Lord and Master.
Clearly many Christians have not embraced the fact that Christians must be committed to Christ and His teachings. They may have mentally assented to certain gospel facts…joined a church…repeated a prayer…walked forward at an evangelistic meeting. But by any Biblical measurement they were never converted. There was no transforming conviction of sin, no repentance, no commitment to Christ’s lordship, no love for those who love Christ.
He is Lord, and those who refuse Him as Lord cannot use Him as Savior. Everyone who receives Him must surrender to His authority, for to say we receive Christ when in fact we reject His right to reign over us is utter absurdity. It is a futile attempt to hold onto sin with one hand and take Jesus with the other. What kind of salvation is it if we are left in bondage to sin?
We will explain this further in our next sermon from the gospel of Mark, “Jesus’ Triumphant Entry” The sermon study guide is attached.

PASTOR WAYNE’S NEWS CLIPS
Dear Fellow Watchmen,
The term “watchmen” is derived from the Hebrew verb meaning to “look out or about, spy, keep watch, to peer into the distance.” While parents have many other duties, their priority is to be the “watchmen on the wall” for their children and to protect them, in so far as it is possible, from harm and danger, and while they want to be gentle, loving, kind, etc., they must also assume their God-given responsibility and, therefore, their full authority.
In a blog by Cathy Guilli, “The collapse of parenting: Why it’s time for parents to grow up,” Guilli quotes Dr. Leonard Sax, a psychologist in Pennsylvania, famous for writing about the proper development of children. Sax said, “the recent collapse of parenting is partly to blame for kids becoming overweight, overmedicated, anxious, and disrespectful of themselves and those around them.” While a secular-based article, truth is truth, nonetheless.
I realize parents want to raise their children to see life from the positive side rather than the negative, which is why they shield them from the news about current events. However, is that an honest evaluation of the life in which we live? Would it not be better to tell our children the TRUTH about life and prepare them to live in it, or to teach them to live their lives to make a difference in this wicked world? Evil exists! Sooner or later, they will face it. Will they know how to handle it? What if another student suggested they consider changing their gender?
Parents, your primary responsibility is to be a good steward of your children, and you must treat that honorable position with the reverence it is due. God has high standards for stewards, and He will hold you accountable. Your first assignment is to teach them about God, and not only the blessings that come to those who obey Him, but also the uncomfortable truths about those who fail to respect Him. I know parents want to raise their children without conflict, and again, while that is admirable, in doing so, parents not only run the risk of losing position of authority, but their children!!
The attached news stories and opinion articles are examples of the rise of evil in the world, the heartbreaking evidence of man’s inhumanity to man, and the devastating results of a society that has rejected the knowledge of God. If parents are to serve as the watchmen for their children, they had better educate themselves regarding the enemies we are facing today and those our children will face tomorrow. While we may not be able to do anything to relieve the suffering of others, we can and should teach our children to be thankful for what GOD has provided for them, including their parents….who, by the way, are worthy of their respect!!
Please forward these news stories to those you think are interested in them.
