Reports in Syria: Extensive Israeli strikes in Several Areas……
Syrian media are reporting a wave of attacks attributed to Israel in the districts of Hama, Homs, Tartus and Damascus.
According to reports, the strikes caused heavy damage to a “scientific research institute” in the Masyaf region, in the rural area of Hama, which was hit by several missiles.
In addition, it was reported that military posts were struck as well.
The Saudi Al-Hadath channel reported that 15 missiles hit their targets in the strikes.
According to the reports, this is the most violent wave of Israeli strikes in Syria in years.
A Syrian military official told local television that “around 11:20 p.m., [Sunday] Israel launched an air strike from the direction of Lebanon against several military sites in the central area of Syria.”
The source claimed that the Syrian defence systems were activated against the missiles and shot down some of them.
Syria’s official news agency SANA reported that 18 Syrians and perhaps Iranians, were killed and dozens were injured, some of them seriously, in the attacks in the Masyaf area. In addition, damage was reported to the sites that were attacked.
SANA, quoted on Monday a Dr. Faisal Haidar, director of Masyaf National Hospital, confirming that the number of casualties had increased to 14 dead and 43 injured, with six in critical condition.
A Syrian military source told SANA that at approximately 11:20 pm on Sunday, Israeli forces launched an air assault from the northwest of Lebanon, targeting several military sites in central Syria. Syrian air defences reportedly intercepted and downed some of the missiles.
Meanwhile, Syrian media outlets reported extensive material damage to civilian properties and the electrical grid.
Israel has not commented on the reports thus far.
‘IDF is focused on fighting Hezbollah, preparing offensive actions in Lebanon,’ IDF chief warns…….
Attacks from Hezbollah throughout the weekend damaged homes, ignited fires in Israel
Amid ongoing, daily attacks by Hezbollah against Israel, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi [above] warned the terror group that the army is “preparing for offensive moves” inside Lebanon.
Halevi’s threatening statement came during his latest tour of the northern border on Israel’s Golan Heights. “The IDF is very focused on fighting Hezbollah. I think that the number of attacks in the last month, operatives killed, rockets destroyed, infrastructure destroyed, is very large,” Halevi said.
The IDF announced on Friday that over 50 airstrikes last week targeted Hezbollah buildings, infrastructure, weapon depots and rocket launchers in Lebanon.
“The Northern Command, with all the capabilities of the IDF, is attacking many of Hezbollah’s capabilities inside Lebanon before they attack us, and at the same time, we are also preparing for offensive moves inside its territory,” Halevi said.
On Friday, within the span of an hour, the IDF struck 15 rocket launchers poised for immediate launches against Israel in the area of the Litani River, approximately 25 kilometers (about 15 miles) from the border, and targeted several other Hezbollah positions across southern Lebanon.
The IDF published footage of the strikes, noting that the rockets flying off in various directions indicated they had been prepared for immediate launches.
Exchanges of fire continued through the Jewish Sabbath, as Hezbollah launched some 30 rockets toward Mount Meron on Saturday morning.
Later in the day, around 10 rockets were fired at the Western Galilee area, damaging a home in the town of Shlomi and causing a fire near Moshav Liman, Army Radio reported.
Some hours after this, four to five rockets were fired at the town of Safed, activating sirens in the area for the first time in over two weeks.
In response. the IDF struck a vehicle in a Hezbollah military compound in the area of Faroun, near the Litani River.
Three Hezbollah terrorists were killed in the attack, according to Lebanese reports.
The terror group responded by launching two to three drones at Ayelet al-Hashahar, which exploded in open areas without causing damage.
In the evening, the IDF carried out another round of airstrikes, noting that it bombed the rocket launcher used to attack Safed earlier in the day.
Hezbollah claimed it was targeting the headquarters of the Galilee Division located near the town.
Overall, the terror group claimed responsibility for 10 attacks against Israel on Saturday.
Israel to go on the Offensive in Lebanon?
Israel should go on the offensive against Hezbollah within “days or a few weeks,” former War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz said during the MEAD Conference in Washington, D.C. on Sunday. [pictured above]
“The time for action in the North has come – if we do not reach a deal for the hostages within days or a few weeks, we will have to go to war in the North,” said the chairman of the National Unity Party.
“In Gaza, we have crossed a decisive point of the campaign,” he said. “We can conduct anything we want in Gaza. We should seek to have a deal to get out our hostages but if we cannot in the coming time, a few days or few weeks, or whatever it is, we should go up north.”
His comments came as officials in the U.S. and Israel both said the ongoing hostage deal negotiations appear to be stuck.
Gantz also noted that Israel’s security policy should change permanently in the aftermath of October 7.
PA wants UN to order removal of 500,000 Jews from Judea and Samaria………
The Palestinian Authority is circulating a draft resolution asking the United Nations General Assembly to urge Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria and remove some 500,000 Israeli citizens living in the territory within six months.
According to a report by Israel’s Channel 12 on Sunday, the resolution, which cites a July 19 advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice in The Hague, is expected to be brought to a vote next week.
The 79th Session of the U.N. General Assembly is scheduled to open on September 10.
In addition to demanding an end to Israel’s civilian and military presence, the draft text urges U.N. member states to impose sanctions on officials in Jerusalem, banning trade with Jewish businesses in Judea and Samaria and blocking weapons sales to Israel if they might be used in the area.
Clueless IAEA….
Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, on Iran’s nuclear program: “We have lost the “continuity of knowledge” regarding the production and development of centrifuges, rotors, blowers, heavy water, and uranium-lead concentration.
Translation: we know nothing about the Iranian nuclear program. Just wonderful.
