Many Days Without a King…….Editorial
For Israel there has been a lot to overcome. It all began with Abraham’s call to inhabit Canaan. The Amorites, Hittites, Jebusites, Hivites, Perizzites, and Girgashites—inhabited the land – and were to be variously resisted or destroyed. They were followed by the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and eventually the Islamic Caliphate, the Ottoman Empire and a British Mandate.
A patient and merciful God sent them His prophets. Yet the warnings largely fell on deaf ears – they did not listen but stiffened their neck in order not to hear or take correction.
The result was the destruction of the kingdom of Israel by the Assyrians in 722 BC. The kingdom had lasted 208 years. There had been 19 kings, and not a single one had been considered righteous in the eyes of God.The southern kingdom of Judah survived with King Rehoboam who was the rightful heir to the throne, since he was the son of Solomon. He veered off the path of righteousness, and his son, Abijah (also known as Abijam), followed in his steps. It was not until the 20th year of the kingdom that a good king by the name of Asa ascended the throne. He reigned for 41 years and was followed by his righteous son, Jehoshaphat, who ruled for 25 years.
It was tumultuous after that with regard to the kings. Overall, there was a steady descent of the society into spiritual darkness. It is a tragic story because no other nation had ever been blessed as much as Judah.
God prospered its people and gave them many righteous kings. More important, His Shekinah Glory resided in their Temple in Jerusalem. But the people of Judah took their eyes off the Lord and began to wallow in pride, which led them into a multiplicity of sins.
Zedekiah was the last king of Judah before the kingdom was conquered by Babylon and the people exiled. He ruled for 11 years but continued in all the evil of his brothers and nephew Jehoiachin.
Finally God sent His righteous and inevitable judgement.
In Riblah the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he also killed all the officials of Judah. Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon, where he put him in prison until the day of his death.
Some two hundred years earlier the prophet Hosea penned these words; “For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim”. [Hosea 3; verse 4]
This has proven to be the case – from that time onward no king was installed to rule the land, and many MANY days have passed since.
Along with that the dispersions, persecutions, pogroms, expulsions, holocausts, from the time of Moses, continue to the present day. Throughout the centuries violence was constantly visited upon the Jews. The 19th and 20th in particular. Persecution has continued apace in the diaspora
The empires which ruled her have disappeared into the dust of history – now a thorn in the side of the Gentile nations protrudes. An Israel restored and prospering – just as her God promised it would be in the latter days. No other nation or people could have possibly survived the treatment meted out to them without divine protection.
However, mostly unknown to the world of today the following [verse 5] n the words of Hosea promises a return of the throne of David and a King to reign upon it from Jerusalem once more. It reads; Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.
This is the ultimate coronation which history is racing toward at warp speed in the days in which we now live.
Yes, still much trouble, grief and destruction lie ahead for tiny Israel and the Jewish people. In comparison it will be mercifully brief yet like no other period in human history. If it is not brought to an end all flesh would perish. Its culmination is probably now closer than anyone dare think.
We speak of King Jesus. the returning Yeshua Hamashiach the Messiah
He is not returning as some misty eyed lover of mankind. He has not been sitting around patiently waiting for humans to “accept” Him. He hasn’t delayed His coming because of mankind’s resistance to His salvation.
No. This is cosmic royalty returning to claim His rightful throne – with eyes of flaming fire, with great vengeance upon His mind, to strongly judge the nations and to choose between them.
This is a Sovereign who will not change His mind, sit on the fence, embrace environmentalism, allow for human excuses and the wicked peccadillos of those attempting to alter the created order to fulfil their evil and tyrannical desires.
It will be quite apparent that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed! This is a Monarch with a rod of iron in His hand – and a determination to rule with it. It will not be an epoch for the avid blasphemer’s of today.
As those in His church given a degree of discernment debate over which battle fits which prophecy, what the next development on the historic horizon will be, or the moment for the Church to be taken home, it is often forgotten that what the nations are about to experience outdoes what has gone before in its severity – as this king dons his royal robes, rebellious humanity should become weak at the knees.
The time has come to harden our speech toward those we love who scoff and ridicule our attempts to have them understand biblical truth.
They need to hear of the inevitable outcome of their disbelief – not in terms of an idea that God has benevolence toward them – He does not – He can’t wait to crush those who have defied Him and cast aspersions upon His dearly beloved Son. It is no light and frivolous concern, it entails an eternity of such horror and pain as to be indescribable, with an intensity not able to be comprehended by frail and earthly beings.
Our God, and His Son have told us what to expect at their hand – they say what they mean, and surely mean what they say. To tread the Son of God underfoot brings eternal misery and pain – and His Father HATES those that HATE Him – He does not love everyone, and He won’t save everyone either.
Tell those who deride you when you speak faithfully of your Saviour, that it is probably their last opportunity to surrender to His authority?
These are the words to which they should turn their attention;
Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD lives, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, The LORD lives, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands where he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers”. [Jeremiah; 16; 14-15]
“In that day I will raise up the booth of David thatis fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins … In that day I will restore the fallen house of David as in the days of old.. [Amos 9;11]”He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end” [Luke 1; 32-33]
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon it was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a robe dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goes forth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, KING of KINGS, and LORD of LORDS”. [Revelation; 19; 11 –16]”And He shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers”: [Revelation 2;27]
For the beginning of those very days are demonstrably upon us this morning?
What‘s the latest?
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the World Health Organization, [pictured above] said he was “utterly shocked” by a reported blast outside Al-Shifa hospital, the largest hospital in Gaza CityThe Hamas-run health ministry said “several citizens were killed and dozens wounded“. It blamed an Israeli air strike, while the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it hit an ambulance “being used by a Hamas terrorist cell”US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Israel on Friday, where he called for “humanitarian pauses” to protect civilians in the region – but Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said there will be no temporary ceasefire until all Israeli hostages are freedThe Pentagon has since confirmed it’s been flying unarmed surveillance drones over the Gaza Strip since Hamas launched its attack on Israel last monthAnd the IDF said earlier it was on “very, very high alert” at its border with Lebanon after the leader of Iran-backed Hezbollah – considered a terrorist group by the UK and US – used a rare speech to praise Hamas’s attacks on Israel.
Hezbollah Leader vows to Attack American Troops in first remarks since War Started……
In a fiery speech from an undisclosed location, Hezbollah General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah fell short of promising an immediate full-scale escalation of hostilities on the northern front with Israel. Any future response, he said, depends on what takes place in Gaza and what the level of attacks Israel carries out in Lebanon. In his highly anticipated and widely watched diatribe, his first formal public statements of this war, Nasrallah said all options were on the table in what he called a doctrine of “constructive ambiguity.”One reason Hezbollah is yet to fully jump into the war is that it is not yet prepared. “We haven’t reached the phase of achieving victory with a knockout blow,” he said. “We need to be realistic.”Still, he said that Hezbollah sprung into action against Israel on October 8, the day after Hamas launched the bloody Al Aqsa Storm surprise infiltration and attack operation. Nasrallah emphasized that the ongoing fighting along the Lebanese border is drawing military resources from the fight in Gaza and creating pressure on Israeli society. Half of the Israeli Army, half of its missile defences and a quarter of its Air Force are allocated along the border with Lebanon as a result of continuing fighting and in anticipation of full-on involvement by Hezbollah, Nasrallah claimed.“The US must be held accountable and pay the price for the crimes perpetrated by Israel in Gaza, hence resistance movements have attacked and will continue to attack American forces in Iraq and Syria,” the Hezbollah leader vowed.Nasrallah dismissed U.S. warnings: “Your fleets in the Mediterranean … will not scare us.”Thursday saw one of the heaviest exchanges over the border yet. Hezbollah attacked Israeli military positions in northern Israel with drones, mortar fire and suicide drones, and Israeli warplanes and helicopter gunships retaliated with strikes in Lebanon. Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said civilians were wounded in the Hezbollah attacks.
Focus Continues to be Gaza………
Prior to Nasrallah’s speech, an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesman said Israel is prepared for any eventuality on the northern front, but that the focus remains on Gaza.“We are at a high level of readiness, both defensive and offensive, with a high level of vigilance to react to any events that happen on the northern border today and in the coming days,” said Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari. “Iran continues to carry out subversive, negative activities and pushes its proxies – in its name – with Iranian weaponry which it sends them, exactly like in Ukraine, Yemen and Iraq against American troops, that’s what they’re trying to do against the State of Israel. They are trying to distract us from our war in Gaza. We are continuing to be focused on the war in Gaza.”
IDF Reaches Mediterranean Coastline…..
Israel continued to push deeper into Gaza Friday after cutting off northern Gaza from the south yesterday.IDF forces reached the Mediterranean coastline in central Gaza Thursday, according to the latest assessment from the Institute for the Study of War. This was long-planned by Israel. The goal is to keep Hamas fighters from escaping and being resupplied and destroy the vast Hamas tunnel network under the Arab Palestinian enclave that connects the north and south. As its forces gain more ground in Gaza, Israel is attacking Hamas fighters coming out of tunnels as well as increasing attacks on the tunnels themselves.“IDF fighters identified terrorists coming out of a tunnel shaft and directed an aircraft that eliminated them,” the IDF said. “Thanks to the continued cooperation between ground forces and the Air Force, many terrorists who fired at our forces were eliminated in the last few hours.””The fighters of the Yalam unit, in cooperation with engineering fighters from the 7107 battalion, the Nahal brigade, the Negev brigade and armoured forces, in a variety of special activities, uncovered and neutralized active combat tunnels of the Hamas organization in the Gaza Strip,” Hagari said Friday. “The fighters uncovered shafts, planted explosives, trapped and neutralized tunnels in the territory of the Gaza Strip.”
Blinken: Two-State Solution must be a goal of Israel’s war against Hamas…….
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken argues that the goal of the war cannot only be to defeat Hamas but also to create a brighter future that includes an insane two–state solution.“This is not just about dealing with Hamas in terms of defeating it physically. It is about making sure that it can’t repeat what it did on October 7, but it is also about defeating an idea — a perverted idea… that we have to combat with a better idea… with a better vision for what that future can be and demonstrating that we’re committed to achieving [it],” Blinken says.He says the two-state vision can “give people something to hope for” and that there is “a broad and strong coalition throughout the region” that supports it. What is this man smoking?Blinken’s strident caution about civilian casualties came as the Biden Administration is increasingly trying to walk a fine and fragile line between support for Israel and the growing global condemnation for the mounting civilian casualties. There is also concern at home as President Joe Biden’s approval rating among Arab and Muslim voters plummets, threatening his re-election efforts. With all that in mind, administration officials have moderated their messages.“If this really goes bad, we want to be able to point to our past statements,” a senior U.S. official told NBC News Thursday. The official said the administration is particularly worried about a narrative taking hold that Biden supports all Israeli military actions and that U.S.-provided weapons have been used to kill Palestinian civilians, many of them women and children. The Defence Department has said the U.S. is not putting any limits or restrictions on the weapons it’s providing Israel.Nevertheless their spine is beginning to crumble?
Erdogan ‘Wants to lead Muslim World against Israel’ …….
The Turkish President saying Israel is losing its mind shows the “anger” at the situation in Gaza, according to a Middle East expert.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants to “lead the Muslim world against Israel” so his country can become a “great power“, an analyst has told Daily Express US.And while most Western powers have backed Israel’s right to defend itself, anger is growing among other countries in the Middle East.Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah’s leader has vowed to fight to the death for Hamas in a chest-thumping warning to Israel. In response, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu has sent a cold-blooded response to Hezbollah war threat.Simon Waldman, a lecturer in Middle Eastern Studies at King’s College London, notes that Erdogan’s rhetoric has long-placed Israel as “an aggressor” – and he believes the Turkish leader wants to “lead the Muslim world against Israel”.Erdogan joined the chorus of condemnation directed at Israel this week, saying the country is “completely out of its mind“.
Pope Francis says two-state solution needed for Israelis, Palestinians – Divide the Land!……
Francis says Israelis and Palestinians are ‘two peoples who have to live together’Pope Francis is calling for a two-state solution for Israelis and the Arab Palestinians, saying that they are “two peoples who have to live together,” a report says. Problem Francis; The Arab Palestinians don’t want to live together with Jews? History should surely confirm this? That is why millions of deluded people around the globe are chanting; “From the River [Jordan] to the Sea, [Mediterranean] Palestine shall be free!”Francis made the remark Wednesday during an interview with Italian state television channel RAI, when he also said he hopes a regional escalation of the war can be avoided. It could have been of course had not HAMAS murdered, butchered and beheaded 140+ Israelis?”[Those are] two peoples who have to live together. With that wise solution, [?] two states. The Oslo accords, two well-defined states and Jerusalem with a special status,” Francis was quoted as saying. “Israel accepted the PLO as the representative of the Palestinians, and the PLO renounced terrorism and recognized Israel’s right to exist in peace.[really? When?] Both sides agreed that a Palestinian Authority (PA) would be established and assume governing responsibilities in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] and Gaza Strip over a five-year period,” the State Department said. “Then, permanent status talks on the issues of borders, refugees, and Jerusalem would be held.”Francis previously urged the world to take “only one side” in the Israel-Hamas war – the one “of peace.” “I urge believers to take only one side in this conflict, that of peace, but not with words but with prayer and total dedication,” Francis reportedly said during a weekly audience in mid-October. More Vaticanese senseless gobbledegook?
South China Sea tensions explode as China FIRES at submarine-hunting helicopter……
It was the second showdown Canada had endured with China over international waters on the same day, sparking anger among the two militaries.A Chinese jet risked international backlash after it fired flares close to a submarine-hunting helicopter from Canada in the South China Sea, the North American country’s navy has confirmed.Canada accused its counterparts in Beijing of acting recklessly, fearing one of its helicopters could have been downed in international waters, after the encounter on Sunday. The Sikorsky Cyclone helicopter was flying off the Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Ottawa, Major Rob Millen – an officer aboard the ship – said.He added: “The risk to a helicopter in that instance is the flares moving into the rotor blades or the engines so this was categorized as both unsafe and non-standard, unprofessional.”According to the authorities, the targeted Canadian helicopter had been searching for a submarine it had detected.
