PASTOR WAYNE EDWARDS WRITES:
January 30, 2026
The statement “I believe in God the Father, Maker of Heaven and Earth,” is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith. The declaration emphasizes our belief in one God, who is the uncreated Creator of all that exists, and it affirms the Christian understanding of God as that omnipotent being who is not only personally involved in the governance of the universe, but also in the daily affairs of our everyday lives.
In Genesis 1:1, the Bible says, “In beginning, God.” (The article “the” is not in the original manuscripts.) If we are to return to the Old Paths, we must go back to the beginning and restore a high view of a Holy God, for every facet of our lives is based upon our concept of God, including our witness to the world.
On Sunday, February 1, we will continue our sermon series entitled, “In Search of the Old Paths.”

THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT
News Stories that Connect with Biblical Prophecy
By Wayne J. Edwards, January 31, 2026
My Fellow Watchmen,
Just as there is no human remedy for sin, for sin is a spiritual issue, rather than a moral or legal issue, there is no human solution for our nation’s predicament, which is also spiritual. The moral decay in our culture today reflects a century-long erosion of Judeo-Christian values that once held us together.
As Christians, blaming the world is unproductive, as those outside the faith act according to their nature. The greater issue is that many Christians are not living according to our calling. We have compromised our standards to fit in, rather than standing firm in faith and enduring opposition. Our witness is weak because our understanding of God is weightless. Too many Christians are focusing on using God to have their best life today, rather than giving Him the glory and honor He deserves, which is our witness to the unsaved.
Meaningful change in our culture requires a Holy Spirit-led repentance among God’s people. Only then can revival occur and our standard of righteousness rise, strengthening our witness. Unfortunately, while many express concern, the church often resists following biblical guidance. The church must return to sound doctrine, deep theology, and spiritual maturity. Discipleship should replace emotionalism, knowing God should take precedence over simply following Jesus, and self-sacrifice must replace self-indulgence.
Ultimately, our actions reflect our understanding of God. If we truly believed in His Almighty power and understood our identity as His children, our behavior would align with our beliefs and we would avoid the discipline that comes from inconsistency.
FOR BELIEVERS, THIS IS NOT A CALL TO PANIC,
BUT TO PRAYER AND DISCERNMENT.
Please share these few articles with those you think might be interested. Thank you for the many gracious responses to this effort to keep God’s people informed. PW
