Dear Heritage Family,
By every measure, the evangelical church in the West is dying. On average, nine churches close their doors daily in America, as over 3,500 people decide to discard the church as being relevant to their needs. According to the most recent survey, over 30% of Americans now have no religious preference or denomination identity.
The church is reaping the fruit of the man-centric church-growth movement that began in the early 19th century but exploded exponentially in the 20th century as the younger Pastors abandoned the teaching of sound doctrine and tried to keep attendance up through Christian entertainment.
Therefore, the most significant issue facing the church today is not how to attract the next generation to get involved in a dying denomination but whether the church can survive another generation without the proclamation of the uncompromised gospel.
We will explain this further in our next sermon, “Earnestly Contending for the Faith – Holding to the Truth in the Midst of Apostasy.” In this sermon, we will look at the characteristics of a false teacher. (Jude 1-25)

Dear Fellow Watchmen,
Hope is a wonderful thing. However, this is such a thing as having true hope in a false source. If you are still putting your hope in some political messiah to rise up and save America, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
While our Sovereign God can, and will do, what He has ordained to do at this prophetic point in history, I agree with Leo Hohmann, with the level of corruption in Washington, our democracy is over, and the republic is hanging on by a thin thread. The America we once knew is over. As Christians, we need to stop whining about it and start living our lives as witnesses to the One who will soon return as the King of King and Lord of Lords.
As Kelleigh Nelson wrote in her column this morning, “DC stands for The District of Corruption!” I also found these quotes in her article:
- “If we incline too much to democracy we shall soon shoot into monarchy, or some other form of dictatorship.” Alexander Hamilton
- “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%.” Thomas Jefferson
- “Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” John Adams
According to the articles attached, unless God intervenes, we are on the verge of WWIII, paralleled with an economic implosion. The ONLY way to prepare for what is ahead is PRAYER, and I urge you to ASSUME THE POSITION!
