PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
The weather watchers warn us of the dangerous storms headed our way, and everyone rushes to the stores to purchase the items they think they will need. Prophecy watchers warn us of precisely what Jesus said about His imminent return, and even the majority of those who claim to be Christians carry on with their lives as if such a thing just could not happen.
In 1 Peter 4:7, the Apostle Peter said, “The end of all things is at hand.” Peter wasn’t predicting the exact day Jesus would return, but rather from his perspective, it could happen at any moment, for they were living in the very times Jesus described to the disciples that would indicate the nearness of His return.
Beloved, if that was true then, looking at the worldwide persecution of Christians, the wars in the Middle East that could lead to the two biblical wars which will occur during the Tribulation, the corruption of world governments, the decadence of our society, and the apostasy of the evangelical church, how much closer must we be today?
This Sunday, we will continue our sermons from 1 Peter. The title of this sermon is: “A Living Hope – How Then Should We Live?” This sermon is not just a few nice thoughts based upon a theological discourse, but this sermon is a very timely message that resonates with the challenges our nation is facing at this very hour. This sermon reminds us of the hope we have in Christ and the importance of standing firm in our faith, even in the face of adversity.

NEWS REPORTS CONNECTING TO BIBLE PROPHECY
PASTOR WAYNE WRITES
My Fellow Watchmen,
While I’m seriously concerned about our society’s moral condition and troubled by the issues we face, contrary to what our readers might think, I do not walk around wearing a frown. I’ve even been known to clown around to make people smile.
For example, after giving my order at the drive-thru, I drove to the pay window and said hello to a beautiful young lady in her late teens or early 20s. After the financial transaction, I, with a severe look, asked her if the restaurant served “dead chicken?” She turned away as if she didn’t know what to say and asked me to repeat the question. I asked, “Does this restaurant serve dead chicken?” She said, “Sir, I’m not sure; let me ask my team leader!” And yes, she called her manager! Of course, by this time, I was laughing my head off, but at the same time, I was ashamed that I had embarrassed her and I apologized.
As I drove home with my “chicken fingers” (which I didn’t know chickens had), I began to wonder! If that young lady went to a commercially-run chicken house, chose a baby chicken, watched it grow for 6-7 weeks, saw it gathered on a truck with the thousands of the other birds, hauled to the processing plant, rendered, (I won’t describe that) boxed and shipped to that restaurant, cut into pieces, dipped in their batter, and dropped in a vat of oil that is somewhere between 325°F and 375°F and fried for about 10 minutes, would she eat it? Would she still want her job? I doubt it!
A WOKE philosophy of life will not work because it is not based on reality. The WOKE crowd doesn’t mind eating a chicken sandwich; they just don’t want to see a chicken killed and processed. The same could be said of beef, bacon, or turkey – they don’t mind eating a Subway sandwich; they just don’t want to be a part of killing an animal to provide the food. They want to be able to travel where they want to go as fast as they can, they just don’t want to cut the trees. They want to be accepted as hyper-individualistic, but they expect others to adjust their values to make them feel accepted and welcomed in a community.
There was a time when I thought the “woke” would inherit the earth, but I’m no longer concerned about it. The devastation of Mother Nature’s recent storms has awakened many to the realities of life. Unless God intervenes in this next election, they all will soon be AWAKENED to the reality that socialism is not the nirvana they have been led to believe it is, where everyone can live in perfect peace and happiness without competition with others for one’s station in life, much less a war with others to defend one’s way of life. And, unless they receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, they will be AWAKENED to face the reality of an everlasting life apart from the One who gave them life!
I urge parents to expose their children to the tragedy many have suffered, and are still suffering, due to Hurricane Helena. Use pictures and stories to show them life is not what we want it to be; it is what it is and it is not always to our liking. I urge Christians to obey the command in 1 Corinthians 15:34, “Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”
